TH Celebrate big win… Hollywood Style!

Tokio Hotel celebrated becoming the first ever German band to win an MTV Video Music Award on Sunday night fittingly, with a wild after party. Georg (21), Gustav (20) and twins Bill and Tom, who have just turned 19, talked to BILD from Los Angeles and shared all the details of the night.

Bill accepted the band’s ‘moonman’ trophy for ‘Best Newcomer’ in front of millions of TV viewers, thanking his fans in flawless English: “We want to thank our fans all over the world today.”

He later told BILD: “When we first got the award we were in complete shock. And then Tom drank us under the table until 5am.” The boys went to a private party thrown by the Interscope Universal record label in Santa Monica.

Tom: “We just wanted to really party! Just like superstars like Britney, Christina Aguilera, Pink or Kid Rock.”

Vodka with Red Bull was Tokio Hotel’s drink of the night, along with a couple glasses of celebratory champagne – and, they admitted, some water to keep them going.

“It was a cool party,” said Tom. “And the girls here are awesome. They kept screaming every time we appeared.”

The boys finally called it a night when the sun came up, going to sleep at the four-star *removed for privacy* Hotel.

Tokio Hotel will appear on a US talk show and then return to Germany to start recording their third album. There is no doubt that their German and American fans can’t wait for its release.

Tom: and we just finished our rehearsals for tomorrow for the VMAs and now we are ready and we, uhm, go back to the hotel, and it was good and I think the next day will be more than good.
Buzzworthy: What are you guys gonna do tonight? Back at the hotel?
Bill: I think we just go back to the hotel and sleeping or chilling at the pool. I don’t know, because, uhm, yeah. We need- we really need to sleep because we’re so tired and worked the whole day, so ehm, I think, ehm, yeah. It’s important to, you know, get some power for the VMAs tomorrow.
Tom: Just relaxing, sleeping eating, stuff like that.
Bill: Yeah.
Tom: We are ready!

Bill: I really want to see Pink. I mean, she has an awesome voice and I really love her songs and she’s performing her new single (?), so…

Tom: But I think it’s, it’s, you know… nothing special.
Bill: No, I think I wake up and then I think, “Okay, what I can wear now”, put all my bags (?), and let’s see. I don’t know.
Buzzworthy: Bill are you gonna do something different to you hair?
Bill: NO!

Thanks to votes from thousands of MTV viewers, Spears netted her third nomination of this year’s VMAs (she’s scored two others in the Best Female and Best Pop Video categories) on Friday (August 15), but she faces some stiff competition for the awards’ most sought-after prize. The Jonas Brothers are also up for Video of the Year, for their “Burnin’ Up” clip, along with Chris Brown’s “Forever,” the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” and, in typical VMA fashion, a relative newcomer. The Ting Tings scored their first VMA nod for “Shut Up and Let Me Go.”

Tokio Hotel makes history with VMA noms

Thank you to Coolbreezegirl for this info! only two german videos have been nominated in the past for VMA. Sadness part 1 by Enigma in the early 90s (late 80s?) and Be my Lover by la Boucheóm ten years ago. Both these artists only had one nom each. TH is the only one that has double nominations and also one for artist and not just video. If we also vote enough for Video of the Year they might even score 3 noms! major Epic. But even if they don’t they have still made music history.

THs presence there at the red carpet (well mostly Bill to be honest) will guarantee them pics in mainstream North American media as well as in the rest of the world; all over Europe, Latin America and Asia. If TH will win it will generate big headlines even in markets where they are less known like in UK and people will pay attention. TH at VMA saves Interscope millions and millions in marketing costs because it is all free publicity. Win-win situation for both TH, label and us fans all over the world!
