In Ten Years
March 12, 2010
This is a fun interview. Fans got to ask the question and the band was, as always, witty and quick and teasing one another. This was published in Visão Júnior Magazine in Portugal and credit for the translation goes to aniinhas!
The four friends who created a band could never imagine that, one day, they would be famous through all planet
At the age of 13, the twins Bill and Tow Kaulitz already recorded the album of their career. But only three years after, in 2005, they created Tokio Hotel. The name of the band it’s a tribute to the favourite city of the band, capital of Japan, Tokyo. Since the release of their first album in English – Scream, in 2007 – the band never stopped.
Because they are always travelling, the band members have afar school. Just with their tour last year they went to more than 12 countries, Portugal included.
After this tour, when they were back home, Tokio Hotel went on studio to record their new album in two versions, onde inEnglish and the other in German, the mother-language of the band members. Humanoid was released in the end of the last year and their song Automatic is already playing in every single radio,
The band plays Rock and Pop, a lot of times, their music style is called «emo», a style where the song lyrics are very emotional because they talk about deep feeling, such as love. The lead singer, Bill Kaulitz, writes a lot of songs and confesses that the biggest philosophy of the band is to encourage their fans to fight for their dreams. After all, Tokio Hotel also fought for theirs, and they could make it!
The answers to Júnior Readers
Tokio Hotel answered to seven questions left on the website by the readers.
What do you think about Portugal? Will you stay here some days after the concrt? Patrícia, 14 years, Beja
Tom: We participated in our first MTV EMA (Europe Music Anniversary) in Lisbon, and that’s what connect us to Portugal! In those times, we were completely unknown in Portugal and we had the chance to explore Lisbon as real tourists. It’s an amazing city! We enjoyed to be there and we would love to stay some more days this time but, unfortunately, we will have to leave to go to another concert.
You are always on tour. Beside the concerts and interviews, do you have time to explore the places you visit? Inês Vaz, 13 years, Bragança
Bill: Sometimes our schedule is so hard that we almost don’t have time to leave the hotel. But we always try to leave at least to lunch and dinner. Sometimes, we dress each other and we leave the hotel incognito. In the next interview I can reveal what Tow will dress… :)
Your last album is about sci-fi and your feelings. How do you imagine the world in ten years from now and your life in this world? Alexandra, 13 years, Aveiro
Tom: I can imagine Georg finally having decent bass lessons! And Bill will keep trying to convince me to wear tight jeans!
Gustav: I clearly see Tow spending all his money on alimony (for his ex-wifes)!
What’s the music you hear now (from Tokio Hotel or from another band)? Bia Sousa
Bill: Because we are in the middle of the rehearsals to the tour, we spend most of the day listening to our own songs. As soon as we leave the studio, we listen to differents kinds of bands and music styles.
Your tour is called Welcome to Humanoid City Tour (in Portuguese: Bem-vindos à Cidade Humanóide). If you were owners of a city, how would it be? What would make it special? Ana Nascimento, 18 years, Barreiro
Tom: There is not need too much stuff to make us happy. The most important it’s the location. It would have to be a place where the weather was warm a lot of times, such as Lisbon.
Which are the common things of your life that you miss the most? Márcia Bernardo, 17 years, Porto
Bill: Shop in supermarkets. It might be strange, but I miss to walk around there and choose among all those fruits and candies!
What’s the best thing a fan can told you? Inês Trabucho
Bill: Something about their private life – that means a lot to me. That’s why I love meet with the fans and signing sessions. We have the opportunity to see the personal vision of what makes our fans’ world move.
How are the green-rooms? Who is the funniest? Who’s the calmest one? Who’s the most stubborn? Adriana Martins, 15 years, Oleiros
Georg: Oh!, Gustav can be the most stubborn!
Gustav: And Georg is the most grumpy morning. This means he is always pissed off and in a bad mood when he gets up in the morning.
Bill: Tom does the best sandwiches, it might be the only thing he does the best.
Tom: Bill is the best eating sandwiches and that’s the only thing he does, probably, the best. We all have fun together on the green-room. Each one of us has his own little manias, but after all this year together, we learned to accept and live with this.

On the tour, Tokio Hotel have two luxury tourbuses. Bill and Tom travei in a bus, and Georg and Gustav in the other. „We can’t do it because it goes forward to the bags.”, says Tom. „So everyone has his own room”, adds Bill. „After the show, we sit together in our bus and we play poker or watch DVDs. We have 900 films here.” At the middle of the night Georg and Gustav go back to their bus…

Tokio Hotel Incognito
March 8, 2010
Tokio Hotel watched “The Book of Eli” in Volksdorf: Bill Kaulitz, his twin brother Tom as well as Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing – and nobody noticed it! (translation thank you to loveth-music!!!)
Volksdorf – Also Superstars are longing for a normal life from time to time, and want to go into Restaurants or cinemas without being noticed. It isn’t any different when it comes to Tokio Hotel. But everywhere they appear it’s over with the silence. Screaming and hysteric, mostly female, Teenagers besieged the venues days before their concerts. And now all those Fans have to read exclusively in a newspaper that their idols were guests in Volksdorf a week ago, on Saturday (February 27 – A day before the concert at the Color Line Arena). At the ‘KoralleKino’ the pop-heroes watched the apocalyptic Thriller “The Book of Eli” with Denzel Washington at 11.15 p.m. The special thing about this: Nobody noticed them…
Their arrival was top secret, in a rather insignificant car, shortly after 11 p.m, the security closing off the ground in front of the Lichtspielhaus after them being in the cinema. Peter Jansen was responsible for not letting any information of their arrival public this night. “I was committed to absolute confidentiality”, the cinema tenant, who permitted the late-night performance of the movie for Tokio Hotel, said. The quartett, lead by the “Diva” Bill Kaulitz, arrived with their Manager and their Marketing Women and disappeared into the huge movie theater.
But before it got dark in the screening room, the superstars ordered some Cola Light and Popcorn. “The boys were very nice and they thanked me.”, said Hans-Peter Jansen whose 18-year old daughter Lea had a lot of luck to watch the movie side by side with Bill and Co. “She’s not really into their music, but she was kind of paralyzed and had to tell her friends of her unbelieveable adventure on the same night”, said Jansen. A lot of girls would have loved to be in her place that night…!

We love Norway
March 5, 2010
Interview and publicity from Topp Magazine in Norway! Thanks to danyta for bringing it to us and thanks to Mr. Google for this awesome translation! Hopefully, the pictures make it worth it! I WANT BILL’S NECKLACE.
We were the only Norwegian magazine to meet the guys from Tokio Hotel
Wednesday March 3rd German rock band Tokio Hotel had a tremendous live event at Valhall Arena in Oslo.
Just over three hours before yesterday’s concert was great, Topp was the only Norwegian media interviewing the guys from the popular band.
Bill Kaulitz, Tom Kaulitz, Georg Listing and Gustav Schafer were in great spirits and boasted unencumbered by Norway and revealed that they even had been out and stroll in the city, without being bothered by fans.
“We arrived in Oslo on Tuesday evening and went around and looked in the city. It is very nice here” allowed Bill to Top.
And what did they think of Norwegian girls?
“What we’ve seen so far promises very well”, boasting a girl crazy Tom.
Because last year’s concert in Oslo Spektrum was canceled due to illness, this was Guttas first ever visit to Norway – and stay gave taste:
“We love Norway and come back often!” Was the boys’ immediate verdict.
Tokio Hotel fans were understandably in ecstasy when their heroes visited Oslo yesterday. Topp met Kjersti Modalen (17) and Rikke Fremo Tønnesen (15) outside Valhalla yesterday morning.
Then they had already waited over 24 hours on their heroes, and set very first in the queue.
- When you first let the concert, will be the stand at the front, “said Kjersti Modalen to the top.
The girls were given kølapper the night before so they could sleep indoors at night.
- The only requirement was that we were back at 08.00 the next morning.
It was the first Tokio Hotel concert for the girls, and there was no doubt that they enjoyed wide.
- It’s a shame they did not come last time, but we are of course delighted that they are here today.
And on the question of which of the boys they like best, the girls were in complete agreement.
- All other girls choose Bill, so when we choose Tom!

Not from this world
He’s loved or hated, nobody stays unaffected by him: Tokio-Hotel-Singer Bill Kaulitz is on the way to become a global superstar. For the first time the matured Musician talks about the burden of Fame, his fears, the longing for true love – and presents himself in a completely new Look.
Mister Kaulitz, You became a star at the age of 15 and since 5 years you’re living permanently under exceptional circumstances. When you look back, what do you feel?
The first years were like a flush. We didn’t have to go to school anymore, because it was besieged all the time. I, of course, thought that this was great. We could do what we wanted. But there was also an other side. I remember, that I wanted to celebrate my 16th birthday, but instead I had to give some interviews. It’s hard to develop this discipline and to accomodate to such things, it was exhausting.
2 years ago you lost your voice during a concert and you had to undergo a surgery. Now you’re on tour with your band Tokio hotel and you’ll play 32 concerts in 19 countries. How big is the fear that this’ll happen again?
I always carry this fear in me, it never leaves me. But I already played some concerts since then. It’ll work out.
Back then, did you think that you won’t be able to sing again in the future?
Sometimes yes. My whole life is based on my voice, that’s why it was such a horrible time. I was sitting alone in my hotel room in Berlin while the Band waited for me to return to Barcelona, to continue the Tour. I couldn’t even talk. I couldn’t even get out, because the whole Hotel had been surrounded by Paparazzi. I felt very helpless. The tour had to be cancelled. I’m glad that this is behind me now.
Tokio hotel was ridiculed as a short-lived teen sensation at the beginning. Meanwhile you’re on the best way to become global superstars. Is it a satisfaction for you, that you could show the critics that they were wrong?
I’m over this now. It was important for me to prove that we’re not one of those one-hit-wonders when our second album has been released. Now we clarified this.
You played in Paris in front of a crowd of 500 000 people, after you got an invitation from the state president. What do you feel in such moments?
I’m really, really nervous before concerts. It constricts my throat, my heart beats fast and my hands are shaking. Then, when I’m on stage, everything happens as if you’re in trance. After the concert I often don’t know what I did on stage. The movements kind of happen automatically.
You’re under permanent observation, also through the Paparazzi. Is this a fulfillment or a impertinence for you?
I can’t live with fame, and I can’t live without it. There are days, where I wish I could walk on the streets without being discovered. But what should I do? Bill Kaulitz as an office worker, sitting in front of the computer – I would become dilapidated. I do the things, that I do best. Standing on a stage and entertaining people. I get anxious when I watch TV and see an award show where Tokio Hotel aren’t present. I want to be on the top. That’s my internal force. It’s what’s holding me together.
Your Band polarizes the mass. One either hates or loves you…
…and that’s how it should be. The most horrible thing that could happen is when people wouldn’t care about me or what I did anymore. Tokio Hotel should arouse strong emotions in a person. Of course I could dress normally in the morning, to not stand out, but that’s simply not who I am.
Is there just an artificial Bill?
It’s not that I’m startled when I look into the mirror in the morning, but the Bill who wears make-up is much closer to me. But I’m also not just an artificial character, like many people still think. The ones who make the effort to look at old pictures of my childhood will see that I always ran around like this.
You grew up in a village with 700 inhabitants near Magdeburg with your twin brother Tom.
My childhood was a long struggle. I knew that by stepping into the school bus in the morning, that one half would laugh about me and the other one would insult me. My brother Tom and I felt like aliens on the wrong planet. Sometimes our step father had to get us from the bus stop with our dog and a baseball bat, so that we wouldn’t get beaten up.
Did you search this provocation?
Of course. I didn’t make life easy for me. I wanted to provoke them. I enjoyed it when I stepped into school in the morning and when one half of our classmates turned around. I know it sounds a little neurotic and sick, but that’s how it was. I could have never lived with the fact that everyone likes me, because I grew up with polarizing people.
Did the hatred towards you surprise you at the beginning of your career?
When I watch our old Performances and Videos I start to wonder. We were so young and innocent and had those baby-faces. And then there was this enormous hatred towards us. It wasn’t just one that people called me a “fag”. Today I find it amusing. I understand that some people had this expression, but that the newspapers still write about this makes me wonder. It has to bore the people to death by now.
Maybe that happens because you never show yourself in company of a women?
Yes, that’s the big gap in my life. I didn’t fall in love since I was fourteen. It’s hard for me to trust people. It may sound clichee, but I’m looking for a girl who’s like a soulmate for me. I’m very romantic and I’m actually waiting for my true love. But I could vomit when girls walk up to me at a party and ask me questions like “Hey, don’t I know you from somewhere. Aren’t you a musician?”. That’s a moment where I tense up – but honestly, I don’t know how you could start talking to me without this happening.
Your twin brother Tom is more loose when it comes to dealing with female fans. Do you envy him for that?
Of course. I envy everyone who can deal with situations like those more loosely. Back then Tom was the one who took a different girl with him after every After-Show-Party, while I was lying in my bed, back at the hotel. Groupie-Sex disgusts me. I hate it so much when girls start pushing around, just to be on a picture which will be printed in one of the newspapers tomorrow. Tom is different when it comes to this. But sometimes, when I like a girl, I request of him to stay in contact with her, to call and to keep writing short messages with her. We know everything about each other.
How big is the fear that a girl will sell your story to one of the tabloids?
We always calculate this possibility. We know what could happen, so we always phrase the short messages that we send to them, in a way, with which we could live when they would sell this story to the tabloids. That’s just how it is.
Is it even possible for you to lead a normal life in Germany?
For us, Germany is kind of like a huge Big-Brother-House. The people are always watching us. You can find an article in one of the newspapers almost everyday since I’m fifteen. We’re always filling up the gossip columns. Abroad, that’s different. We’re getting perceived as musicians there, not as people who you can gossip about.
Why aren’t you moving away from Germany, like other celebrities?
I like Germany. That’s where my family lives, and that’s where my home is. That’s where I live together with my four dogs and Tom, in a beautiful house with a big property. When I close the gate, I can rest. I wouldn’t have the heart to turn my back on Germany.
We have the impression that you’re loved more abroad, than here.
There’s not a single person in Germany who would listen to our music without having prejudices. There once was a survey on TV, where they let pedestrians listen to our music without knowing who it was from. Most of them were thrilled. As soon as they knew that it’s Tokio Hotel they made a face. That says everything!
A few months ago, your Band-Colleague Gustav got hit with a beer bottle on the head. Are you scared of assassinations?
I think that this could happen to me. There were situations at the red carpet where our Bodyguards had to pull people – who had camouflaged themselves as fans – out of the crowd, because they stood there with a knife in their hands. I’m also always tense while walking through the airport. I keep my head down and breathe heavily. Sometimes I watch myself from the outside and think: “Hey, Bill, relax!” But it doesn’t work.
How do you spend your free-time?
In the past I went to Clubs every now and then because I wanted to be among people. I thought that this had to work, but as soon as I stepped into the Club, I had to sit in one of the booths at the corner and let myself get goggled at by people. They held their mobiles over the barriers and took pictures, as if they were in a zoo. I can only relax when I’m away from all of that. Recently I was on the Maledives with Tom, but even there Paparazzi took pictures of us.
Recently you surprised us with your appearance as a Model during the Fashion Week in Milan. How did it come to this?
It was a dream that I fulfilled for myself. Already at the age of seven I bought cheap T-Shirts and Jeans to make my own clothes out of them. When the time comes, I’ll design my own collection, but I want to do this for real and not just as a job beside doing music.
What do you say to the accusation of you apparently being anorexic?
It bores me. If people made an effort to actually investigate, this wouldn’t be a topic anymore. Just take a look at pictures of me from five years ago or look at old pictures from my vacations. I was as thin back then, as I am today. I’ve always been like this.
Your brother Tom says that you two smoked pot and drank alcohol at the age of 13. How abstinent are you today?
Since I’m really afraid of losing control, drugs never had a chance to make me addicted. I tried a lot of things out at an early age, which is why I can let it go now. I could never play a concert, when having taken something before. That’s unimaginable!
With just 20 years of age you met a lot of other celebrities. Who impressed you the most?
Jay-Z surprised us by watching one of our concerts in L.A. Then we went out to dinner with him. That was great. and Karl Lagerfeld also impressed me. Maybe it sounds silly, but I think I could get along with Britney Spears very well. We kind of led similar lives in the past years, so we’d probably be able to tell each other a lot.
Is it true that you’re a fan of Angela Merkel?
Yes, I like Angela Merkel a lot. Lately she got criticized a lot, but I have to say that I still trust her. I believe in her.
Oberhausen Sold Out!
February 25, 2010
Thanks to our friend Google for this translation. Heehee. Oberhausen (RPO) on Friday held in Oberhausen, a concert of “Tokio Hotel” instead. For a few days camping so some 100 young girls there because they want to be at the concert in the front row.

The young fans like to sleep. Even at lunch time they lie in their tents and dreams of the four boys from Tokio Hotel.

She has her thick fur jacket with a hood pulled far over her face. “Finally no rain,” she says. Since Friday Bianca already tabernacled with more than 100 other girls from all over Europe, despite the rain and cold near the Arena Oberhausen – and all because of Bill Kaulitz and Co.
Jungendamt controlled
The young people are fans of the teen band Tokio Hotel, which will be on Friday evening at the Arena Oberhausen in the context of their “Humanoid Europe Tour” her first concert in Germany for some time. The four guys around the 20-year-old twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz have been part of successful years on the German music bands.

With his staff, he keeps a watchful eye on since Friday, the area around the arena. Because many of the fans are still minors, and attend school. “We control the cards, if necessary, we then call the parents of the girls,” said the youth workers.
Tight organization in the tent city
The girls, camping on the parking lot and, according to to have all the permission of their parents who are themselves tightly organized. There is a list on which every girl needs to enter.
“Who does not do that, the concert may not be on the front row,” says the 16-year-old Isy, which leads the list. Tonight, fans can clock from 22 in the lobby of the arena. Then there will be a scramble.
“Without the list, there would be fights among the girls,” said Isy. The concert is sold out with nearly 13,000 tickets sold so well as. Some but there are remaining tickets at the box office. The guys from Tokio Hotel are consciously aware of the great hype. Lead singer Bill Kaulitz is afraid even an attempt on his person. Without bodyguards, he was not going on the road.
Bill Kaulitz in Stern Magazine
February 24, 2010
This is by far one of the hottest photoshoots ever. EVER. In the history of mankind. But first, the article and small interview. “Office worker? I would perish” is the headline on the Stern website.
He’s the biggest teen star in Germany, feels like this country away in the Big Brother house and will not yet: Bill Kaulitz. The new star of the Tokio Hotel singer talks about fears, his great desire – and Angela Merkel.
Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz is afraid of assassination. In the new edition of the phenomenal on Thursday the 20-year-old star admits that it had already given situations, which had “bodyguards pull on the red carpet men who stood with a knife and had disguised himself as a fan.” Without bodyguards, he would never leave the house. “Attacks?” I do believe that something could happen to me,” said Bill Kaulitz to Stern. A normal life is no longer possible for him. “Germany is for us something like a giant Big Brother House. Always watching us the people.” Nevertheless, the native of Magdeburg do not want to leave his residence Hamburg. “Here, my family lives here, my home. I could not bring myself to turn back on Germany.”
The pop star, who is currently on a European tour with his band, is adored by millions of female fans around the world, but is still single. “This is the big gap in my life. Since I was 14, I was no longer in love,” says the Tokio Hotel singer. “I am looking for a girl with whom I share a spiritual kinship.” Groupie sex disgusted him against it. The constant rumors about his alleged homosexuality, it would now be surprised and amused. “The people must be bored but slowly to death.”
The Chancellor has Kaulitz loyalty. “Yes, I like Angela Merkel a lot,” he confesses in the Stern. He still had a “very great confidence in them,” even though she was recently criticized “quite often been”. Kaulitz: “I believe in them.”
p.s. The fanclub is working with a supplier to see if we can get some of these magazines here in the USA. Will keep you posted on that.

Erotic Films? Yes, says Tom
February 21, 2010
Oh Tom, we love you so much. This has appeared in the Portuguese press, a funny variation of a snarky response he made. “Tokio Hotel do not run, for now, the risk of ending, but another future lies in wait for one of the Kaulitz twins. Tom may be the path of erotic cinema. Asked about the veracity of the report published in the French press, the guitarist of 21 years have surprised the room: “Yes, indeed. I really want to make an erotic film … several films.”

Crazy Tour Look
February 16, 2010
Well, that smell of burning? That’s the fandom melting at the new sketches about the Humanoid City tour which starts IN LESS THAN A WEEK! Bravo Germany printed some sketches today of Bill’s proposed outfits as well as the stage. What’s your thoughts?
Me? I would be so grateful to be there and see a live concert, I do not care WHAT any of them wear. Although I do like to see a nice Gustav tattooed calf peeking out from his shorts. Hey, what can I say. I LOVE his “Hurt” tattoo.
Okay, let the explosions begin. Put on your flameproof gear and head into the comments!
