They aren’t dividing fans over a phone. If fans feel divided over the app that is entirely their own fault. I can’t buy a smart phone or this app but I don’t feel in anyway “divided” from the rest of the fandom because I still love the boys for who they are and I still love their music. I didn’t lose any love from them because of this app and I didn’t flip out because someone made a bad PR decision and decided to say that “true aliens” had the app because I know from all TH’s interviews, THTV, and ‘thank you’ videos that they value ALL of their fans. I don’t feel entitled to have this app just because I’m a fan and I don’t feel Bill and Tom have anything to apologize for.
When they were touring they gave us THTV for free, and they don’t have to make ‘thank you’ vids whenever they get an award but they do it anyway. They do a lot to show us they care, and yet so many fans are willing to turn on them because they don’t get to see pictures of Bill groping a big purple monkey or Tom playing Jenga.

I have the app and you know what, I’m not impressed. I liked THTV better, much more interesting that seeing photos of sunsets, a pair of shoes, a skull.. and not much interaction with fans. I don’t think I will be doing the monthly payments for this. Let’s just say I’d rather wait for their new album to come out

Also, the only thing I like about the app is the Alien Chat Room when you chat with other fans around the world, they are far more interesting : ))

I think that after create the BTK-app we at last have seen the real face of brothers Kaulitz . Now it is clear what do they think of their fans. I think that fans for them only the grey mass, they have no love to fans. Fans it are necessary to rise only on musical top and to provide with it financial well-being. Fans having money are necessary to them, only for them they smile in the chamber, but even these smiles false. Bill and Tom always said that hate lie. But actions speak louder than words. After such relation to fans it is clear that they it is simple hypocrites. As you sow, so shall you reap. When Bill and Tom it will understand can be too late.

That’s a horrible thing to say based on an app alone, don’t you think? So you’re ignoring their music and interviews and ideals they’ve put forward and judge them solely on an app that you have the right to buy or not to buy? All their lyrics, appearances, thank you vids to fans, THTV, animal rights, disaster benefits, etc really have less weight to you than this app?
I’m fine that it’s a paid/exclusive service since it surrounds their private life. I can’t afford a phone to use it, but I have never felt as though I was entitled to it just for being a fan. And I certainly won’t turn on them or throw a bunch of negative labels at them because I can’t have it. You can certainly dislike the actions of people in a band you like, I’ve certainly done it. But really, all you’re doing here is spreading baseless rumors.

I think that what happens here is that we’ve always seen them as young boys; many of us have followed them since their beginnings and we’ve seen them like boys who love music, who have a band, who show themselves as they really are through the THTV, with their ups and downs, fights, a band who tries to have as much “direct” contact with their fans, for free. And now they are grown men, that know what they want just like entrepreneurs I guess, and that is a very different side of them which I don’t think it’s bad. I don’t think that the idea of the app is bad at all; the way it has been handled maybe. What happened with the admin was not good at all.
Now if we compare the two projects: THTV (for free) vs. The APP (you have to pay for it) well the last one is interactive this is why you have to pay for it, and I think it’s fair. I don’t have the app and love them still, if I want to know about them I look them up on the internet. I watch THTV reruns ‘cause I miss them, and I do hope they come back as strong as they were or even stronger. All that whining about them taking advantage of the fans to make money out them… seriously? They actually do make money out of us with or without the app, we pay for their music, concerts and whatnot!
About their “disappearance” and “not caring for the fans” I think that everyone is entitled to have a break, as far as I know they had been working nonstop, aside from the time when Bill had his surgery, but I also THINK (my opinion) they took this break in a very important time in their career, they were not yet on top but getting there, why stop now? It just makes me wonder. I know that settling down in the US, making contacts or whatever, takes time; I just hope that their management knows what they’re doing.

I agree with this. I haven’t seen a shred of evidence that they are taking advantage of their fans or that they are taking their fans for granted. In fact, compared to other bands I’ve followed, the boys in TH have consistently gone out of their way to share their thoughts and feelings with their fans.
Also, TH announced this break a long, long time ago. They even gave their reasons for it (which were perfectly sound), and yet fans are still accusing them of abandonment.
As for their management… I’m still a little iffy on that. I wish I understood their reasoning for not having a tour in the US for Humanoid or not promoting them more in the US in general. >.< Word of mouth is powerful, but I still felt like they could have done more.

I agree with you Somnio. Bands need to take a break to relax and find inspiration for future work. They take their time to produce great music, quality vs quantity. TH is not like other artists that produce alot of records in a short time and it’s all crappy.
Their management is a mystery to me too. Even if Humanoid didn’t sell that well in the US compared to Europe, they still should of planned a small tour. I think that they lost the momentum from their success with SCREAM in the US by doing that. They have to know that they have a large fan base here and it’s growing

And a tour would have generated more momentum because fans would have gone, they would have brought friends, more people would have looked them up to see who was playing, etc. Some people who go to concerts are actually new fans who don’t know much about the bands they see. They just go for a show, and I’m sure TH would have pleasantly surprised many of them. So yeah… I hope it’s different for the next album. >.<

To a certain degree Marina is right. Claiming that APP users are the “true” Aliens is exploiting fan’s insecurities and essentially pressuring them into proving they are “true” Aliens by purchasing the app.
(I may not own the app, but I’m a “true” Alien. I don’t even belong to this Country, it says so on my passport.)
However, its a horrible marketing strategy and the minds behind it are unknown. Pointing at Bill and Tom is not completely fair, they are just the face, the reason of the app to be. We don’t know what circumstances came about for them to even create this app; If it was even Bill and Tom’s idea.
Someone once said, “Don’t be making assumptions unless the boys says so” but its highly unlikely that they would rat on their management team, and for that they are getting the grunt of the blame.
For all the doubters, the boys DO appreciate their fans, how many celebs you see giving speeches and thanking their adoring fans that helped them to reach this far?
For all the emotional and highly annoyed fans: DON’T HATE on the group. Because you don’t have access to the app, or copyright laws succeeded in destroying your only window into the world of BTK
(Yes copyright laws. To say the twins knows or the twins did it, is wrong. Admin just employed copyright laws, and doing a very immature job at manning the helm of the app, which is pretty much offending just about everyone (both owners and non app owners))
If you love them for their music, their talent, their work, then it wouldn’t matter if you’re blocked or not in the “loop” or considered not a true “alien” (by the apps silly admin), You’d just be peeved that their new album is taking so long…
(I wonder how much Bill’s voice has changed?)
Anyway, the app is the property of the company and they can do what they want to and they’re giving you access for a fee. Why don’t people go arguing with Paid-Per-View television? You want it, you buy it.
SIMPLY: Buy or trade for a used apple product, save money to afford the App. (price of a twix bar)
Is the APP not available in your area? no problem neither is HULU, you would just have to do without.

Um yeah, I don’t agree with anyone that’s telling people to get a job to pay for this app. If this is a “THANK YOU” to the fans, Why cant they just put everything up on a BTK Twitter, or Facebook as a Thanks?? Other Celebrities do it. Some are too young to afford the app. Some just really don’t have the money. Some would just rather NOT PAY. And I understand that. And the fans with out the app are glad to see anything because they don’t have it. Bill and Tom are asking for too much, I think. If they really want to thank their fans for everything. They would just put it up on a site or free app for everyone to see. And yeah, this seems as if it could be the end of Tokio Hotel. All of this commotion is driving me to the point to wear I cant even remember why I really loved the band. Its just too much.

I honestly and so let down by the actions that the admin took that was so uncalled for and immature like some people said they should have contacted her and yeah talked it out nicely and not harassing people i think that is just low and horrible poor girl now i would not blame her if she took legal action because i know how the tokio hotel fans can be *not trying to offend any one*but just taking one look at all these post 7 out of every 10 are really rude and just not nice some of the fans can be very… vicious …. if thats the way i can put it gee all the app is just like toms blog except with more videos of them and yeah its not that grate trust me your are not missing anything grate not trying to sound like a jerk but thats what i think. i think they should do what they are doing on the app right now put it up on the fan site you know like a free version and like do something more with the app because its just eh it really just let me down and i think they should do something for all there fans because it is kinda unfair that some can not get the app because of money issues or mom and dad or just because they dont have the proper device to get it and i know that why? well because if i did not have my ipod touch i would not have bin able to get it i dont have an iphone or android just a regular cell phone, but yeah you guys please stop with the arguing also another point i do agree with some fans where are georg and gustav?! :( they should also get to be in it i think they should be in it i miss them so much have not gotten any real recent news about them recently and i dont think the band is done and over like some of the people on here they would have told us… i know they will just like cinema bizarre did with there fans when they broke up. the day will come one day to all those who say it will never happen it will im sorry i love bill and tom georg and gustav with all my heart but also keep in mind that the guys have another life outside the band other dreams to live in there life and it will happen one day and when it dose yes i will cry but it will be happy for them. but any ways i love you tokio hotel and what ever you choose to do i will be behind you supporting you.

You are right, if you say anything that is not what they WANT to hear you’re screwed… many get really rude and mean, they all dislike your comments even if their not offensive just to hide it, as if it gets erased ’cause God forbids you say anything “bad” about the boys. Many forget they are human. No one’s blaming the boys about anything, and the rumors of them splitting are rumors I don’t really understand why they get mad if someone expresses their thoughts.

People have been extremely civil on this board. Many people have disagreed with my opinions but they’ve been perfectly polite regardless. Yes, I got some downvotes, but that’s what you get in a place where people are free to voice their own opinions. It is nothing personal if people disagree with you, and it has nothing to do with telling them what they want to hear. It really is as simple as it sounds: They just happened to disagree with you.
In other words, if you only want people to agree with everything you say, then maybe you shouldn’t be on the internet. I’m not trying to be rude, but I’d like to point out that you’ve placed a lot of judgments on people here for doing nothing more than having a difference of opinion.

I’m sorry, I have to disagree with you. Most of the conversations here have been rational and completely respectful. There are disagreements but that is to be expected. There is no use in trying to imagine turmoil where it doesn’t exist. You calling the majority of the people who commented “vicious” just because you don’t agree with them is a little ridiculous. I also think some people here are taking the voting system a little to seriously. All it essentially means is, “I agree” or “I disagree,” and the votes have been pretty much split evenly across the board.
Also, I’m a little tired of people assuming that if Georg and Gustav aren’t a part of something it is somehow the fault of the twins. Georg and Gustav can make their own decisions, and by their own admission they are much more private than Bill and Tom. If they aren’t a part of the app that is most likely their own decision.

I think the fact that the app is designated as BTK and not TH says a lot; just as the fact that there has been almost 0 contact or news about the other TH band members and that naturally fuels the debate about “Is TH Over?” And I personally think the band is over. Just my opinion but music is changing fast, the economy is killing the music industry just as it is the film industry, TH has been together for 10 years and that’s a long time for any rock band, and as much as I loved their stuff; I don’t think it’s marketable anymore. Not much is right now. They rule over a very small niche at best; but better that than nothing, right?
As to the app: If you can’t afford it you can’t have it. Capitalism 101. If you have a metro pcs in your town you can get an android dirt cheap. Otherwise tough sh**. Get a job hippie. Bill and Tom are a business. They have a financial responsibility per contract to their recording company to produce an acceptable level of wealth/return or they do not have a profitable business model. They have both a responsibility and …A RIGHT to make money from their work. They only owe us fans one thing: A product we enjoy enough to pay for it. This mind set on this board that they should do everything for us for free because “they say they love us and do everything for the fans so it should be free!” and “I can’t afford it so it’s not fair that people that can afford it can have it and I can’t” is from either children that have parents that said ‘No’ to them or teens/young adults that have a welfare/entitlement mentality. Again: Get a job hippie. Or set a goal to earn the phone you need for the app…just like your favorite band worked their asses off to come from a communist country and still at a very young age become successful by selling their product. No one gave them anything for free either. Quit bitching and save your money and buy the damned phone. Hippie.

Wow… I just have a few things to say.
Many forget, that they make a living out of this. So, just because we love them doesn’t mean that we’re gonna close our eyes and truly believe that they are all perfect. Maybe they started with Tokio Hotel because they love music, but hey… making money feels good, ambition gorws on you, you have a manager. I mean, c’mon it is the music business, they don’t call it like that for nothing.
Someone from the hidden comments said if they were doing this for the fans, it would’ve been free… I think it is true, but I don’t get mad or take it personal THEY MAKE A LIVING OUT OF IT.
I don’t understan how come every comment saying that the app admin should be sued is disliked? THEY SHOULD BE SUED, they are not an AUTHORITY to determine the kind of “punishment” for the person who made a bad use of the app. (YES BAD USE, there are laws whether we like it or not.) Why not just cancel the suscription?
I like Tokio Hotel, I like their music, I love them all 4… who cares about anything else? If they never come back … yeah that would suck, but I’d still be their fan and keep on listiting to they have made so far.

I don’t think its an issue that they are making a profit out of the app either, i get that without money there would be no band, and that its a business at the end of the day.
The only things i truly have a problem with are 1) the fact that they refer to those who can’t afford the app or the phone as not an “alien”. and 2) the unprofessional manner in which the admin. handles issues.

If you can’t afford it you can’t have it… Where I live you have access to piracy around each and every corner, and not becasue I can’t afford a real t-shirt, cd, or whatever makes it ok for people to take advanatge of it and start making fake anything and most definitely not ok for me to buy it. I think it’s pretty much the same, almost everyone thought it was so cute when Bill said that illegally downloading music was stealing, nobody likes piracy… IT’S THE EXACT SAME THING. But there is a Law that should take care of it, you don’t see the band (any band for that matter) or any label exposing those who did bad! Come on! Because that will backfire! They know better than that!
I guess people react to the fear of change and sometimes to the fact that they are not perfect and immortal, I guess nobody likes to even think about the idea of the band calling it quits, I never really thought of it until it was mentioned here, I guess I’ll have to read all of william’s hidden comments to understand why you (william) think so. You guys did find out that Shay Todd’s husband is the so-called “BTK Admin” right?????? Meaning Bill and Tom are completely aware of what’s going on (I know some fans were wondering if they did). Alot of fans can understand why the Admin is saying this, but on the other hand (I’m just reporting) alot of fans are pissed off, unfortunately (this is what I’ve heard) I didn’t know that only “real aliens” have i-phones and androids…but I guess they do…whatever. I guess TH fans out there like me, without these phones will have to wait for….um, oh, I’m not sure. I guess the next album. Oh and did you guys hear, that the BTK Admin revealed the exact address of a user of the app to punish her for posting things???? Well apparantly legal action has been threatened against the app, because the girl’s been getting harrassed….by other fans….So Sad……

I was really dumb to do it that way and the admins could get sued for that. Intimidation is never a “good way to shot the other app users” anything. Post it and email it to all users and if you catch someone violating the agreement revoke their use of the system for a determined period of time and if you want email of snail mail a very formal letter stating your intention to legally protect your copy-written intellectual material.

It wasn’t a dumb move at all…they have said numerous times that they weren’t going to put up with imposters on the site and I saw the posts the person was making…they were horrible, no matter if it was coming from Tom’s mouth or someone else’s mOuth. They only put the city and state name of where the person was located not anything else so legally they are okay because there are lots of people in the city and it could be any one of those people. My main problem with the app is the fact that they aren’t dealing with spammers and the blank comments that take up tons of space. So whoever is gonna sue the admins is gonna learn quickly they have no case due to loopholes even though the admins didn’t handle things the right way. But on the other hand the admins are gonna learn quickly that the subscriptions are gonna decline due to their own idiocy. A lose-lose situation for all involved and a bad image for Bill and Tom and even Tokio Hotel as a whole.

They Admin may not have released the person’s full address, but the city the person lives in, and street names were used. Just because the full address wasn’t in that comment, doesn’t mean it is right.
There are privacy laws all of the world, and what that admin did, was illegal.
I don’t condone what the fan did and I don’t think it was right for her to pretend to be Tom either, but the admins are in the wrong here. If they wanted to ban this person (or any persons), there is no reason to even post a message for everyone to see. They should have just taken care of it quietly and professionally, rather than doing something so immature.
If we have to follow their copyright laws and such, then the admins should follow rules as well.

Yep. That’ll get them sued quick. Stalking is a crime, divulging personal information in this manner is a civil suit waiting to happen. Retaliation tactics like this are amateurish, ugly and stupid. Profitable to someone with access to a lawyer. I’d sue them out of business. There’s a difference between being a fan and an fanatic. Fanaticism is a recipe for self destruction. The app info shouldn’t have been stolen that’s why the people who have the app are upset. and the people who can’t afford the phones are very upset. I don’t blame either of them. Yes people who don’t have the phones can call which is great but they don’t really get news or pictures. So no it’s not as exciting. And yes other bands charge more on sites. maybe just maybe if tokio hotel would charge the same amount on their offical site as the app to where people who don’t have the phones could be happy. I think it would stop the drama. We are adults here and people who have app please stop calling those who don’t “people who are trying to get in their personal lives” . Because they are just like you! Also the people who don’t have it stop getting angry at those who do, it’s not their fault it’s no ones fault. And I have faith Tokio Hotel will make it right sooner or later.

I 100% understand what you’re saying…the disputing within the fandom itself really has to stop, because it’s toxic for sure. What sickens me is that Bill and Tom (apparantly) know exactly what’s going on because Shay Todd’s husband is reportedly the “BTK Admin.” Fans discovered this on two occassions (my sister has the app and she told me). At one point the Admin posted something and the username under it was him (like his actual name). So some fans are angry because he’s apparantly bullying people on the app. Like revealling the address of one female user of the app, which is illegal. And now legal action is being threatened against the Admin. Every fandom website has been threatened as well, and all they were trying to do was “include everyone”, unfortunately, people like me who doesn’t have one of those phones, I’m not complaining that I can’t see the posts anymore, I guess that’s fair, I just don’t like that all this bullying and fighting that is going on. I used to think that TH and their fans were not like that, but I guess I was wrong. Shay Todd once said (about the fandom), “these girls would spit on each other if it meant getting 1 second of their attention.” That’s to tell you either how educated she is about the fandom, or how prejudicial she is (because I know they’re lots of fans out there who would never stoop so low). I guess this is where things have come to….not sure how much I like it though. But I agree with you, the fighting in the fandom really has to stop ’cause people are really getting hurt.

I hate how much drama some T.H fans are creating on facebook, twitter, tumblr, and even worse… Tokio Hotel America. I think we should all just take a breath, get some fresh, air and calm down. All of this “assuming things” is making ourselves think the worst. Ive been hearing all sorts of things that I would have never thought would come out of an Alien`s mouth. I mean, I know we are all a little dissapointed that pictures and stuff from the app cant be shared out on websites but, I mean fans are still talking about stuff that are going on in the app. For example today I found out that Bill and Tom went to the Cirque De Solie show in L.A. so, we are not completley dissconnected from the band. we still kinda know whats going on. and for all you fans who have the app stop, making fun of and teasing the fans who don`t. you were just lucky and got the app but, that dosen`t mean you are better than anybody else. Im actually scared that Bill and Tom might find out about all the drama and shut down the app. I think we would all rather calm down, stop assuming things, and have an app so we can at least know a little about Bill and Tom`s life than, not have an app and know nothing at all.

How do you know that Bill and Tom don’t talk to Georg and Gustav? For one, there is the VIPcall and every single one of the band members’ voices are recorded.
Just because Bill and Tom live in LA and Georg and Gustav are still in Germany, doesn’t meant they aren’t a band anymore. There are many ways to make an album without being in the same town, city or even country for that matter.
And just because it’s taken a while to put out a new album, doesn’t mean it’s over either. There are plenty of bands out there that take years to produce a new record. Look at Van Halen or Guns ‘n Roses. Both bands hadn’t put anything out in quite a few years and all of a sudden, they have or are putting out new material. Just because a band wants to take a break, live their lives outside of the band for a little while, does not mean that the band is over.
It hasn’t been a year since the guys have all been together, either. There was that small tour around Asia and Japan in the summer last year, but I guess that doesn’t count.
I am going to support them no matter what. And you know why? Because I am a Tokio Hotel fan. That’s what fans do; they support the bands/artists that they love.
I’m so over all this drama and people assuming things. You want to be a fan, then be one. If you don’t, then don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

I agree with the fact that they are extremely slow, and sometimes only seem to care about money. But they are NOT over. Over my dead body – that’s when they are over. They are working. Hard, slow, I don’t care – an album will come.
This fandom has become utterly strange lately, but I’m not here for the fandom: I am here for the band. And some people seem to forget that.
You are allowed to have an opinion, but don’t bash the fans please. It’s not our fault we still love them, and wait for them. And why do we do that? Because they’re worth it.

It seems that one of the problems here is that “exclusive” has become literal. Am I wrong about this? There is precious little info about the guys available right now, even from official quarters. it has all been put behind this major barrier—it can’t even be called a paywall, because that would be theoretically accesible to anyone with computer access, which we all have. If they would offer fans *any* free content on their site, reserving the true gems for the app, I doubt the controversy would be as high.
I know people are emotional, but accusations of tantruming and smugness aside, confining info from the anyone associated w/ TH to this 2-platform app does indeed effectively shut out much of the fanbase. Empirically. I know they’ve now offered to put up the website with the delayed content, and that will be a big help way overdue, but I take exception to the idea that the admins’ threats and name-calling are “polite”—even if you believe they are warranted. I appreciate the need to protect copyright, but I’m hoping they can start using a little finesse and a little less saber-rattling: If you know someone’s address (in the example with the Tom impersonator) why not contact them directly—and deal with them effectively?
I should say that I don’t have the app yet. I have a smartphone and by chance missed the launch date for iOs because i was caught up with other things. Man, I’m not sure I’m interested in buying it now. I’d want fun and entertainment; I’d rather not spend my time on the app writing notes like this one—or never knowing when i was going to encounter threats, arguments and disappointed lectures.
i love the guys, and I know they are young and still learning how to spearhead their own careers and business, so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they are savvy adults, and I truly hope they will step up, take control of this, and hire someone to help them with damage control soon.

They have every right in the world to make themselves exclusive. It’s their call.
There’s no damage control needed. The app is fun for many people. They have graciously given us a look into their lives for an extremely small fee. They’ve given so much of themselves for free already.
If people would follow the rules they wouldn’t get spanked. If the individuals livid at the BTK admin weren’t the one impersonating Tom, then why is it their problem anyways?

I hear you. you’re right: I have no way of knowing that there’s any “damage” since THA is a mere microcosm of their fan base. Point taken.
And I never suggested that they don’t have the *right* to do what they see fit, only my concern that the course this is presently taking might not return the results I assume they want. Again, an assumption that they want to maintain their current fan base. I fully acknowledge that I don’t know. I’m simply struck by what, for me, is an unprecedented level of upset among some fans here. And I just imagined that B and T wouldn’t be happy about that. But as I’m typing this, I realize that world-wide, this fandom has probably been through worse, so again, point taken.
But the foundation of my comment is that I just can’t imagine that these smart, media- and fan-savvy guys don’t understand that the fan relationship is also a *business relationship.* Fans are either buying their product or marketing it for them. That’s what fans do. So while the guys are more than entitled to (and must!) set limits in the relationship, I’d also like them to have a undiminished fan base in place when it’s time for the album to drop. I acknowledge that I have no idea of the effect of this kerfuffle on said career. But while it’s wonderful that many fans are happy with the app, and I don’t want to take that away from anyone, it just seems like a a waste of goodwill to create an environment that causes unnecessary angst in other fans. No one wants to feel blocked and unrequited in their happy place. That’s what I find striking. That for the first time they’ve created a significant barrier for people who *want* to consume their work, their offerings, to keep up with them, to *support* them. And I’m not talking about the price of the app. If I have a Windows 7 phone, I’m SOL as much as the person who might not be able to get a smartphone at the moment.
As for the the admin spankings, I never argued that rule-breakers shouldn’t be punished. I just think that people who are following the rules shouldn’t be hit by punishment shrapnel. I know everyone is different, but I don’t get joy or satisfaction from reading about threats. I’m about as rule-abiding as they come, but I don’t enjoy capriciousness for that same reason. If the admins had outlined the penalties for rule-breaking up front, then fine, but reading admins proposing freestyle punishments doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, at least not in me. It just makes me feel bad—not for any perpetrators, understand, but just a general sense of negative vibes that I’d prefer not to encounter in the midst of my entertainment. Some people may be more thick-skinned than I. Way too much time devoted to this, but as a fellow Gustav lover, thought you deserved a response.

So, considering the fact that ive been a tokio hotel fan for over 5 years now , i do agree with all of you people from above or below who have comented on this this hole situation, misunderstanding , understatement or whatever you you may want to call it. iI also agree with the rights and wrongs and the plot points that you all have made.. but lets face it if we were famouse and unbelievebly successful in our carries and we were getting bigger and more know by the minute, and no matter what you were doing in your life, be it having a company like apple or a fashion disigner, a singer songwriter, director, acter/actress and so on.
we would all want atleast some respect or some sort of privacy and be it big deal to you all or not but money is money and business is also business , there are several sides to those life styles.. because we all want money and especialy in this horrable time of a Reccesion .. And believe it or not but those people who are living the dream also want a life to have of their own at some point of the day like.. ok so fair enough tokio hotel has decided to let their fans in to their lives and let them get closer and let them know what they do on a dayly basis,
but the whole point of this app is obviosly to make money and be more successful and honeslty i dont blame them for not wanting the clips and pictures and information from the app to get out because it also costs money and time to pull it all back together and all that fussing with the fans having fights and arguements and the copyright infragments(sorry for the mispelling) loosing trust dose not help like… yes i know that other people wants to know about what goes on in that app thingy and whatever , i do not have that app and there for i havnt got a flipping idea of goes on in there and no matter how much i wanna know , i know that sooner or later all of that info is gonna come out into the internet on an official besite of some sort and hopefully we will all be able to see and hear and watch the lives of tokio hotel …. but thats all beyond taht point that im tryng to make lol … as for all the costs and charges that the people are going on about and fussing about , the company that is helping tokio hotel set up the app and keep it going ,aslo have to pay money and not just some little fee, they pay hundrets and maybe even thousands of $,£,€ for that app and the whole set up and the time and space of that app .. so cosider all of that when you start rawring about the cost or charges .. because last time i cheked there was a diferece between a hundred and 1.99£ or 2.99$ …
so umm yeah .. i hope atleast some of you will read this and think about it all thorowly and think of how much effort and time is being put into tokio hotel making closer contact with their fans no matter how much hate and greif they get from alot of people .. and how much free time of their own they are willing to give up just for you guys/girls .. so i think we should all be thankfull for all of their effort and what not,

How would the rest of you feel the people that don’t have the app … If you paid for something and our was said exclusive wouldn’t you want out to be just that… Lets not think in a btk case what if you bought an app that you could send videos to your friends but the videos stayed on the app and then someone else sees it snap shots out and puts it everywhere to you…. Wouldn’t you want them taken down on every web site that there on. Exclusivity. I’m sorry that some people don’t have smart phones and can’t buy it but don’t ruin out for the people who can. I got a job and am working 6 hours then going to school for 8 to party for this phone just so I could have this app. Its not the app that is applying the fandom its jealously.

Okay I have the app and what admin told us is that there is going to be a free website to find port the information in delayed time … So that the people who bought the app can enjoy the exclusivity of the app that they have purchased. The web site is simply going to be http://www.btk.com I believe but if I can I’ll keep you posted about the rules that are being set forth.. :-)

I agree with BTK app admin, they were very kind about it. It is unfair for the aliens who are paying for the app. I know that I begged my parents and I worked hard and saved up money just to buy the ipod so that I could get the app and its not fair that others will get the info for free. If you aren’t able to get an ipod or an android phone I don’t mean to be rude but that’s too bad because the aliens that are paying for the app deserve special treatment and exclusive news that the rest of the people who wont pay won’t get. we are paying to get special treatment and it’s only fair. and if the twins want it to be exclusive I think we should respect it. If the twins pleased everyone and gave everything for free, tokio hotel would go broke and then they’ll have to stop working and then there really will be no tokio hotel. The only way they’ll get payed will be by charging so lets be good aliens and support the boys. and to all the aliens out there that are complaining…am really sorry but understand that it’s only fair and if you want to get the special treatment then find a way to save up money and get a devise that is compatible with the app. and the admin did say they were working on a website that would release the BTK app news only a while after it is released in the app…so either find a way to pay or be patient and get the news after the people with the app.

Yeah, I think your right. The stuff in the app should stay in the app, because people pay for it and its not fair if others can view the content without paying. But the chance to have bill and/or Tom replay to what you say is pretty cool that only the app users get, which separates the app users from the people looking on the website they shut down. Also what I think is not fair, is that apparently the “true aliens” are the ones with the app. This makes me feel like CRAP. Just cuz I cant afford a freakin iPhone or apple phone means im not a true fan? I support the guys, I vote all the time, I buy their cds, I buy their DVDs and im waiting patiently for their new cd, I really dont mind at all that they have been on a break for two years. And also (from what I read from these post) that they gave a girls address away, and now she is being harassed?? That is just so f****d up. I must say, the app is a catastrophe. I have NEVER seen so many problems arise, immature comments/behavior tolerated, glitches gone unfixed and overall handling of issues been disastrous. ESPECIALLY on the behalf of the Administrators. What kind of App regulators threaten the safety of a fan by releasing bits of their home address?? That is UNHEARD OF. Since when do these Admins have access to everyone’s personal address’s and have the ability to post them freely!? That is EXTREMELY dangerous and intrusive. REGARDLESS of how much spamming or impersonating they have done. Furthermore I also find that the entire creation of the app was COMPLETELY unnecessary. Although it may be fun and informative the dramatic issues that have come about because of the app far outweigh any joy and excitement it once brought. And honestly Bill and Tom are posting basically everything that every other celebrity does on Twitter. I hate to go here but, the App was a desperate cry for money. I mean you even have to purchase video content AFTER you have already bought the app. Its self-evidently pathetic. And to the Admins who have now recently announced the copyright infringement rules, I find that quite unfair. There are MANY fans who are without smart phones, or the money to purchase the App. Why should sharing information amongst all Aliens regarding the App be not allowed? It was simply an act of generosity and kindness for the App users to share its contents with the outside Alien community. And the fact the Admins are referring to BTK App users as “True Aliens” is ridiculous and insulting. About the matter of Tokio Hotel fan sites being taken down. I find pulling fan sights to be a very poor decision that the Admins should re-think. Yes exposing App contents online can be considered breaking copyright rules, they have made their point. However this move is going to most likely murder the fandom. I see a GREAT loss of the continuation of fan fallowing if ZERO news is being released to the public beyond App users. Most certainly at times like this when TH are in album production and hardly any relevant news about them is in the media. This does raise the question on whether or not TH even exists anymore…which I have not formulated an opinion on just yet. The whole idea though makes me think if this is a way of FORCING people to eventually buy the app. This could have been VERY successful but it has created more problems than anyone could have predicted. I simply wish that when launching things like an App, better preparation was made by TH, Bill and Tom, their “People”, and or promoters.

I can pay the money for the app…that isn’t an issue for me. The issue is my phone works perfectly fine but its not compatible with the app. I don’t have money to just go out and buy a new phone – I’m in college and thus have a hefty tuition fee to pay. I wish they could have an online version of the app – that way almost everyone could have it (more than now, anyways) and there wouldn’t be so much drama…

I do have the app and the admin was polite and reasonable about it.
They just explained that the btk app was for fans only and distributing the content on the internet will be available to everyone and that was not the purpose of the app, its a personal thing for fans. They are aware that not all fans have smart phones or androids so they will make an official website so it can be available to the rest of the tokio hotel community. All they are asking at the moment is for non official websites to take down videos or pictures that have been posted by tom or bill.. it does not mean you cant talk about it its simply saying to not post the things they do.
Fans should not worry or get mad they are working on it.

In L’Arc En Ciel, there’s an app called “Hyde’s Room” that’s only available for Japanese cellphones, and has exclusive content also, and random pictures, and people respect that. Nobody bitches about it.
So in a nutshell, FUCK you guys. And by “you guys”, I don’t mean Tokio Hotel fans, or most of them, I mean the ones that make us fucking look bad. We would be nowhere without you. Keep it classy, assholes!

I have a lot of fandoms in Japan, some who release albums frequently because they are more on the talent idol side of the business (KAT-TUN) and some who take their time creating with full creative freedom (Gackt, L’arc~en~Ciel, Sugizo, etc.) and the quality in the work is obviously higher when they take their time and don’t rush the album just to make sales.
People are accusing Tokio Hotel of just wanting money, but honestly, if that were true they would be popping out albums without caring about the quality or the final details or making it as perfect as it could be.
And what really gets me is that they blatantly stated that they would be taking a break a LONG time ago, and yet people are still acting surprised.

Agree – and on YouTube there are these few (hopefully very few) girls saying absolutely horrible things about Tom’s girlfriend and Bill’s rumored girlfriend. They then go further and say that most fans feel the same as they do.
I have never seen such immature hateful behaviour, and I’m sure it is just a minority. Grown men having girlfriends is normal and other stars like Jared Leto don’t have fans attacking their girlfriends constantly.

Even on other message boards you will occasionally see talk about that particular minority of TH fanatics and why they are the reason people don’t listen to TH’s music or want to be associated with the band. Back to the point about the app: It’s a business product marketed to promote sales for the main product which is the band. I want an Audi. I can’t afford an Audi. It’s not unfair…I just can’t buy one. If I want one bad enough I’ll find a way to get the money. But Audi shouldn’t feel forced to give me one for free or it will ruin the value of the car. Since day one of the BTKapp there has been a clear copyright notice as part of the log in process. Both on the Android version ( a small c logo) and more obviously on the Apple version.
So everyone who logged on had the opportunity to read it.
I’m aware that the presence of copyright was circulated via Twitter and almost unanimously the response was along the lines of “Pfft, so what, we are Aliens and we are going to share, we dont give a F***” not exactly a responsible response to legal issues.
Yes, I’m aware that TH fans have been given access to Tokio Hotel as a band via THTV etc. even though I wasn’t then a fan, I discovered TH in 2009..
But this app isnt “Tokio Hotel”, its BTK and as such, the guys have a right to expect their private information which they chose to share with people who have signed up for the app to remain with the people who signed up for the app.
That’s what copyright is, a legal process which controls the sharing of information/music/written material/video..
I know I’m going to get slammed by the Alien army for saying any of this but I also think that the cost of the app is very small compared to other apps on both the Android and the Apple operating system.
In the UK, the Android version costs £2.29 and the Apple version costs £1.99, to put that into perspective, thats less than a pint of beer! yes Im aware of the follow up costs.. its not a huge amount, even by pocket money standards.
For the opportunity to see personal pics taken by the guys, to see how they see things, sunsets, fairgrounds, video access of them in a piercing studio, a tattoo parlour.. to get a little insight into how they think, what makes them laugh..not to mention that the guys post info and reply to posts personally on a daily basis.. its not a huge sum.
I love Tokio Hotel for the talented musicianship and amazing stage performances..
I have the BTKapp because I was curious as to what they guys would share and as far as that content goes, I have not been disappointed.
In my opinion, which I am entitled to express this being a free country when I last looked, although the majority of users of the BTKapp are making commonsense type comments on the various posts, its also being used by prepubescent girls and hormone ridden young ladies to either repeatedly declare their undying love and absolute knowledge that either Bill or Tom will read a post and be smitten enough to track them down, marry them and ride off with them into the sunset or.. in the case of the young ladies, provide entertainment of a different kind..
Pity, because that kind of misses the point.
These guys are part of a group of four very talented musicians who created a band we all know and love called Tokio Hotel.
I think that the guys are worthy of more personal respect from their fanbase than they are currently receiving. They chose to share a little of themselves with us, so far I think all we’ve done is shown them how little we actually deserve that trust..
(Maybe its because internet trolling is an offence in the UK that I react so badly?)
If this gets cleared for posting I will be amazed, so, thanks for letting me express my opinion. As a significantly older fan than the majority ( I’m 50) I appreciate that my comments may not sit well with some. But, I felt the need to say them.

The app itself may be cheap, but an android or iPhone sure ain’t, i’m not sure if Bill and Tom really thought this through, this app is breaking this fandom apart . Just because you can’t afford such a phone or the app doesn’t mean your love them any less, or that your a “bad apple” as they called it.

Is Tokio Hotel over? Should Tokio Hotel fansites turn dark until Tokio Hotel, the band returns? These are questions I never thought I would see Schnee post.
In these SOPA times, it appears the BTK management are not fans of creative commons either.
It is very sad to see the management attack the fansites, especially when Bill and Tom will say everything they do is for their fans, they would not be who they are without their fans and internationally, throughout the years we’ve become infamous as a strong fanbase — the hallmark of Tokio Hotel’s success.

I can’t believe Bill and Tom are doing this. What does this mean? That the fans who can’t afford it must be kept in the dark and be excluded from all the news? That we are less valuable than the ones who can have the app? I’ll talk about myself, but i know all of you guys here have done the same things. I’ve been a fan since summer 2010, and i have been supporting the guys ever since. I’ve voted in two OMA awards, going online EVERY single day to vote. And in the 2011 March Madness, were i had spent many nights voting, eventhough i had school, and i had been crying for days when we lost. I had been voting for the “Q102 Hottest Rocker Boys”, where we went up to the semi-finals, and Simple Plan won in the end. I had been voting in a competition that a Greek music channel had organised for the “Most Influential Artist”, and i would vote hundreds of times every hour, even persuading my sister who hates TH to allow me to vote from her account as well. I had been voting for the MTV awards, were our boys weren’t even nominated, and we had to write their name “as an alternative artist that wasn’t mentioned above”. All of us here have been supporting and voting for the guys!!! And yet, we have to be excluded like we don’t matter at all?
I live in Greece and things here are difficult. At the moment, i can’t afford to buy such an expensive phone, but even if i did, i really don’t think i would. I’m just not willing to buy such an expensive device that i know i’ll use JUST for the app!
Why is the app ONLY available on smartphones, android phones and iPhones? The fact that the app is ONLY available in these devices means that millions of fans around the world would rush to buy them. Which means that probably it would lead to an increase in those companies’ profits. And it’s not logical to assume that Bill and Tom don’t get anything out of this, is it?
I dont know what to think, really. I’m just confused and disappointed. Until Bill and Tom talk things out and explain their decision, i’ll stop commenting and voting!

Tata, you know I have agreed with you in the past about not worshiping the boys as if they could do no wrong. After all, I think a fan can appreciate their virtues and at the very least acknowledge their faults.
However, I don’t see the need to turn away from the band altogether, or to call them a “pathetic excuse of a band” because of what’s going on with this app. Also, the more destructive and negative fans in this fandom tend to make more noise than the rational ones. And there is plenty of proof that the rational fans exist. There are plenty of them on this site. So I don’t see the need to turn away from the fandom.
I suppose what I’m getting at is that I can’t understand what brought about this reaction. You liked them for their music right? So what has changed? What is so different now?

Okay, its not Tokio Hotel America’s a fault or any other Tokio Hotel Fandom. The APP COMPANY does not want that website, or anything else posting stuff from the app, to be up.
What I think. Having the app and seeing the pictures posted on the app ARE NOT THE SAME. Having the app is a full experience. You who have the app know this. If all the App did was just post a picture with a comment and then later a video with a comment, you would not be happy. I don’t think you would.
No, with your app, you get to interact with other fans, with Bill and with Tom, and so on. There is an entire EXPERIENCE that not having the app does not get which is why, in my opinion, non-app owners just seeing the picture Bill posted just ain’t that big of a deal.
These boys need a lesson about luring with honey.
They could have said “In a few months, our content will get MORE exclusive and member only, so save up and join us!” and maybe even reached out to some of the sites that could help them do that, like, oh, I don’t know which sites might be able to do that….

This whole thing is not doing any good for the band, they must realize it! Fans turning against other fans and being divided in two categories and those who can pay for the app or spend more money on the band are considered more «valued» from those who can’t? So yes, I don’t have the app, I would certainly buy it, if I could afford a smartphone, but right now I can’t.
In a poor country that not many people know TH, I’m trying to influence as many as I can into listening their music (hey, my 6 year old niece sings Tokio Hotel and she doesn’t even know english), so can you put a price on that?
Some say that we are kinda «spoiled» as a fandom because we’ve had info and other stuff for free all this time, but let’s not forget we are not an ordinary fandom! We are THE best fandom in the world (Tom has said it himself), seriously, I have never seen this kind of dedication ever before, so yeah they’d better spoil us!
So, they don’t want share stuff from the app, that’s just fine……find another way to have ALL fans included! As long as TH keep making good music and keep their fans united and happy, money will definitely come, that’s all I’m saying….

SOPA and PIPA preview…Its copyrighted material you basically should be paying for, and by posting screens you’re deterring (some/many) potential buyers of the app or devices by providing a view of the content for free.

I’ve got the app, and do enjoy having the ability to send messages to Bill and Tom, even if they never choose to answer any of my comments. I’ve never shared the content of the app, and most likely never would, unless one of the twins replied to a comment I’d made, then I’d have probably posted a picture of the answer to my tumblr.
For the record I would have happily paid more to buy the app, and would have been willing to pay a higher monthly fee as well. I’d have paid up to $250 for the app, and up to $25 per month to have a real chance to interact with Bill and Tom on a small scale messaging service app. To me the final content, the images, video and actual text posts aren’t the real service. The real service is fan interaction with Bill and Tom. This is why fans sharing the content doesn’t bother me. I really don’t care that I pay for the same content that is free on other sites. I care that I could comment on the content and Bill or Tom might have replied to my comment.
The thing about the copyright notice message that makes me actually dislike the app, and sadly, by extension Bill and Tom, is the request to submit URLs of anyone who posts the content outside the app. The people who have willingly pointed fingers at FB groups, Tumblr blogs, and websites are what is commonly referred to as stool pigeons, narks, snitches, weasels or rats. None of those are nice names are they? They don’t sound like the kind of thing you’d want to be called, do they?
I can understand that intellectual property owners must defend their copyright or it is effectively made null. But asking fans to tattle-tale on each other makes me want to de-install the app and mail all of my CDs, DVDs, shirts, merch, and magazines to their management. I can see myself writing a letter explaining that I will no longer be supporting TH since Bill and Tom have allowed their app admin to ask fans to become secret policemen to enforce copyright compliance. Fans shouldn’t be turned into a copyright Gestapo. This very concept of pitting fans against other fans really does sicken me.
I know that some of you are getting out your flame-throwers to barbecue me, but remember that’s not a very nice thing to do to someone just because they’ve pointed out your lack of human kindness or any sort of moral compass. Then again the ones that will take offence have already either acted or advocated acting in an inhospitable way, so being rude is probably second nature to them.
