I need an iPod touch now! Shoot! But still, 3 bucks for an app w/ a dollar a month subscription? Seriously? I thought once you paid for it, that was it; you didn’t have to pay for it anymore. Still, though, it sounds awesome.

guys, come on, be real: bill and tom are not going to enter into conversations with any of us. is it cool that this app gives people a firsthand look at their lives? yes. however, it’s total crap that it’s a “subscription service,” and therefore you have to realize it’s just another way to make money for them, their label, and their “brand” in general. i was all for this app, even if it was a one time payment, but subscription? no good. you can’t really fangirl over a trickle of information controlled by people who are making you pay for it. i’m sure most of you won’t like this comment, but it’s true. bill and tom don’t know any of us and never will, and this app won’t make you anymore known to them than any other passerby.

I strongly doubt that the 99 cent fee goes to the twins. It’s more likely that the money will go toward the Apple and Android markets to host the service all over the world. Money is also needed for the servers and repairs and such. I doubt the band sees any revenue from this.

Well, my friend was responded to by both Bill and Tom, so I can’t say that they haven’t really entered conversations with any of the fans. In fact, if you look at a few posts, they’ve actually had minor conversations with them (given that it was only one or two replies back and forth, but it’s still something in my own opinion). Sure, it won’t really make them know you or anything like that, but I personally don’t think that’s what many aliens care about. When Bill replied to my friend we could only think to ourselves, “Hey, he knows that you are a real person in this world. He knows you exist.” I can’t say this on the behalf of every alien here, but for a lot of people, it may just be about having the knowledge that the twins know the exist… Do you kinda get what I’m saying…?
And I totally get what you mean, about the subscription fee, I honestly do think it’s a load of BS (and no, I am not being cheap or anything. I don’t even have the app, I bought it for a friend so ;p ).
Somnio, I, personally, don’t think that it goes to the Apple or Android markets. I honestly believe that the fee is purely for their/the band’s personal gain. I’m all for supporting the band, don’t get me wrong, but I just kind of think it’s a bit greedy. In the first year you would have the app, you’d have spent $14.87, right, and then 11.88 for every following year you were subscribed. Just seems a bit crazy to me… Also, I can’t say I know how the markets operate, but I’m sure that if there were a fee for hosting the service, it would be a part of the 2.99 price when you first buy the app. That’s just me though…

Apple takes about 30% per app, and then you have to consider that servers can be costly to upkeep, especially since fans are already crashing them.
I just think it’s unrealistic to think this is a money making scheme from the band.
But most importantly, I don’t think it’s right to be labeling them as “greedy” without more information. Potential fans might come and read these assumptions (which is really all we can make) and think badly of the band before ever giving them a shot. Until we have the facts, I think we should be more careful with things like this.

For the record, I did not label them as “greedy.” I understand that their label and brand is their business and they should rightfully want to make money off of it. I was simply trying to point out that fellow fans shouldn’t kid themselves into believing that all of this “interaction” with the twins is just out of the goodness of their hearts. I’m sure they want to reach out in some way, but it’s also just business when you come down to it. I just hate seeing people get their hopes up only to be let down.

Lol i think in the grand scheme of all thing Tokio Hotel, we all have a little bit of pathetic fan girl in us :) but yeah my brain totally didn’t process the fact that they could like reply to us and stuff and I was like O_o and then i was like “OMG HOLY HELL WE CAN BE CHATTIN IT UP W/ BILL AND TOM OMYGOODNESS MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!!!” but very quietly because it was 4 in the morning lol.
