Down on You

Tagged With:

Someone asked for these lyrics, so I thought maybe others would like them too, so… here they are! These were transcribed by ear by the lovely and talented darkndevilish. They have not been printed or released on any liner notes from Tokio Hotel.

Enjoy!

Can I drive you home
Can I crash into your life
Can you fix my soul
Can you break my heart tonight

Some angels don’t cry
And we are, and we are
Just the two of them
And we’re falling through the sky
And tonight

I get down on you, get down on you
Blessed kisses waiting
I get down on you, get down on you
It all in a way’s just fading
Right into your rockstar dreams,
It’s a point of view
I get down, down, down to get up on you
I get down on you, get down on you

Can I fill you up with my emptiness tonight
Can I hold your hand as we slip into the light

Because angels fall down
And we are, and we are
Just two damaged souls
But it’s heaven when we die
And tonight

I get down on you, get down on you
Blessed kisses waiting
I get down on you, get down on you
It all in a way’s just fading
Right into your rockstar dreams,
It’s a point of view
I get down, down, down to get up on you
I get down on you, get down on you

We are, we are – Angels
Angels don’t cry – And we are, and we are
Two souls collide (And we are, and we are)
Come in tonight

I get down on you, get down on you
Blessed kisses waiting
I get down on you, get down on you
It all in a way’s just fading
Right into your rockstar dreams,
It’s a point of view
I get down, down, down to get up on you
I get down on you, get down on you

Can I drive you home
Can I crash into your life
Can you fix my soul
Can you break my heart tonight

    love this naughty song :P

but i think it says DONT LET WISHES FADE IN…instead of “It all in a way’s just fading”

Thanks for the lyrics!!! I interpreted some lines completely differently.
    xD Like…
“Blessed kisses raining” & “Pulling wishes fading. Running till your arms drop dreams it’s a point of view.”
Lol! I also hear “Can I hold your head as we slip into the light?” which may sound weird, but I like to think of it as very romantic. Personally, I see this song as being about physical intimacy, but it’s a very meaningful act, because you’d be doing it with the person in the whole world you want to share that wish. You want to release your passion and pain with that other person and heal with them. I see “dying” here to mean that euphoric state if bliss where you lose yourself and nothing else is around you except that other’s prescence. There’s a feeling of reliance as you lay under their warm embrace and they cradle you so close as a precious thing. Yeah. There’s some of my interpretation. xD

I’ve always thought it was “Right into your abstract dreams” as well.
It’s what makes the most sense if you consider the next line: “It’s a point of view”

        I don’t know, but I’m sticking with what I thought. ;]

Duuude, I love this song! ^^ It’s one of my favourites on the album, but it bugs me that there aren’t any official~ lyrics posted anywhere. Not in a lyric book, not on the official TH site…nowhere.

And I’m not convinced these are even the right lyrics. I’ve heard about five different versions of the chorus by now. XD

I’m still kind of confused about how much of the group’s songwriting Bill does — I’ve heard him say in interviews that he & Tom spent a long time writing songs for Humanoid (for example), but all of the songwriting credits list about 4 other writers. Don’t hate me, I’m not complaining :) I just really like it when a singer writes his own lyrics; it makes the songs seem more personal….Any reply?

    • Justfan says:

I am not questioning Bill’s involvement in writing their songs at all. The producers (they are producers) are probably helping to polish his texts, ideas. And he always mentioning their producers and the family-like atmosphere in studio. And really, most of artists are working with producers. Even those who writes their own songs. It’s normal…

Yea, i agree. they probly look at their work and say “hmmmm i think it would be better worded like this” like that kinda thing. Constructive Criticism kinda idea i guess. Idk i could be wrong, but thats how i view it.

    And tonight…

I’ll get down on you, get down on you,

I’ll get down on you, get down on you,
    Foreign wishes fading.
    Running till your arms drop,
Dreams it’s a point of view,
I’ll get down down down to get up on you,
I’ll get down on you, get down on you.

    Can I fill you up
    With my emptiness tonight?

On the cd I got it has a few songs that were bonus songs on the deluxe editions but it doesn’t have some of the songs that were supposed to be on it like ‘Hey you’ and ‘Love and death’ WTF? why is the Australian version different to the others?

What are your guys interpitation of this song? Do you see it as a dirty song? A love song? I’m personally still trying to figure it out. I love the fact that we have to focus to really understand the lyrics in som Tokio Hotel songs.

    • Koan says:

I don’t view it as a “dirty” song, but I do think it refers to intimacy. A love song of sorts. It seems rather bittersweet…but not depressing :)

    • Christine says:

I don’t view it as a dirty song either. I think it is somewhat of a love song. Maybe about feeling empty/sad inside and taking a chance on love. I’m not sure but I know Bill can crash into my life any time he wants.

I love this song, too… it kinda kills me that some fans might not have heard it because it was a bonus. Why, oh why, after the initial releases are all done, can’t they let us buy and collect every song they’ve done, electronically? I know there are at least a couple out there I don’t have… :D

I love the way I’m getting credit for this transcript. :-) No, seriously, I was just the last person to have a crack at it at that time and we weren’t making much headway through that lovely accent. Bill is probably going to laugh his ass off when he hears how we’ve mangled some of it.

From my (non-rock-star) point of view, the chorus is a big “Black Questionmark” (:-D) but I’m sticking with “two damaged souls”. At one point I thought I heard “totally wasted feeling” in the chorus but I might have imagined it.

Brainstorming seems to be a good way to solve this. Also, I find that listening to it in a different way helps, like when you’re trying to play it on your tinny computer speakers or listening to your iPod with only one earbud in – it brings out different sounds.

If anyone can crack the mystery, I know you guys can. ;-)

thanks for doing this! I really like all their bonus tracks for this album. In fact I was kind of surprised some of these weren’t included as regular tracks, like “Shadow” which seems so meaningful to the twins, kind of like the “in die nacht” of the Humanoid era, hehe.

Btw, I’ve always wanted someone to do this for “Attention” because tbh, there’s still some lyrics that I can’t seem to figure out and no one can agree on due to that pesky but cute little accent of his, and I still really want to know what he’s saying! Can we make requests? ;D

Love Love Love the song attention… I wish it was included as a regular track. It’s a completely different sound but there’s this haunting heartbrokenness to it. It makes me want to scoop Bill up and run away with him.

Your interpretation makes a lot more sense than mine! Lol.

“It all in a way’s just fading. Right into your rockstar dreams.” I have as, “Foreign wishes fading. Running till your arms drop dreams.” Big difference and the second one doesn’t make too much sense. Lol. I always thought that was odd.

Also, “But it’s heaven when we die.” I have as, “But it’s heaven where we lie”. I like the second line better, just because it’s not as morbid, but I’m also not the best by-ear lyricist. I’ve blasted them to kingdom come with all the rock music I listen to. Lol. ^_^

I love this song! My only thing is, I think rather than “it all in a ways just fading” its “foreign wishes fading”. That’s what I hear and I think the other way is too long to say? I know they did the best they could and I’m not trying to put darkndevilish down, I’m just saying that’s what I think it is. Either way, it’s a great song. Thanks for posting this!

I thought the same thing when I first read the title, kinda suggestive!–but I have to say, hearing the song, I do think it means…what it sounds like. I really think it’s about sharing an intimate night with someone–kind of like a glamorized slightly mature version of “Reden.” I could be totally wrong, but that’s how I see it :)
