At the fashion week in Milan, Bill Kaulitz surprised the music industry with an appearance as a Model. In the Interview with Gala he revealed what this means for his Band Tokio Hotel.
The apperance lasted only for a few minutes, but he could have changed his life with this persistently: Dressed in tight Nappa including a feathery-sleeve, which the Designer-Twins Dean and Dan Catan tailored on the model like slim body, Bill Kaulitz, 20, opened the Dsquared-Show. A highly acclaimed Performance. And the beginning of a new career?
Did the Tokio Hotel Frontman try to shake-off his image as a Teenie-Band-Idol? Max Dax, Chief Editor of the music magazine “Spex”: Tokio Hotel are one of the few Band, who have the potential to transform and develope themselves. But at the moment all the signs are speaking of a Solo-Career of Bill Kaulitz.” The singer is unique, a shimmering and authentic freak: “He’ll go his way and he could become a figure alike to David Bowie.” “Bravo”-Chief Editor Tom Jungersdorf, who established the Band, also sees potential risks: “Bill feels incredibly attracted to the world of designers. But none of his young fans can identify with him like this.” In an exclusive interview Gala found out what Bill Kaulitz thinks about his future.
You’re developing more and more into an other direction, away from the Tokio-Hotel-Image, with which you’re successful internationally since years. Does the Band stand at crossroads?
I think that we’re currently at a very interesting point of our career. We’re also getting older and develope. Fact is: I always try to do what makes me happy. My look got more extreme withing the years which is, especially for young people, harder to understand than in the days of “Durch den Monsun”.
Is there a strategy with which the Band wants to leap towards a more mature audience?
No, But we know that in peoples minds we’re still a Teenie-Band. It will probably take some time until this will change.
Your Catwalk-Appearance in Milan has been highly acclaimed from the Fashion World. Was this the beginning of your Model career?
Since it was a lot of fun for me, I could imagine to model in the future. But just for fun.
Were you nervous?
I was really nervous. But I’m always nervous, even at all of our concerts.
How did the preperation go? Did you have a runway-Coach?
That would have been nice! Naively I thought that there would be some test runs, where I could get some tipps. But unfortunately this was not the case. No, I was thrown in at the deep end. (laughs)
At Tokio Hotel you’re a member of the Band, but you’re always in the center of attention. Is there a rivalry between your twin brother and the other two musicians?
Quite the contrary! They’re happy that it’s like this. Gustav and Georg couldn’t imagine to stand in the center of attention and they admire me and my brother Tom, that we can stand all of this. And also Tom is glad that I’m the stage hog.
Do you have any plans regarding a musical solo career?
I would never quit Tokio Hotel. Sure, there’ll be times where we’ll take a longer break. I could imagine to get some own projects started in this time. But the end of Tokio Hotel? Never!

I think they do, and will deserve a break whenever they need it. They already give so much. But, i hope when that time comes, it isn’t for long. I know Tokio Hotel may not last forever, i mean, they wont always be ever preasant in the public eye (as well it shouldn’t be that way) but i hope for now, we can have them for a long while more.

He sounds way mature for his 20 years. But in his life, he’s had to grow up fast and smart. I think he will do solo singing projects with Tom producing him or playing with him. Georg might be a guest bassist on other albums and Gustav, too. It’s a nice way to grow and develop because they can come back together and share what they’ve learned. If you’re in your 20′s or beyond, think about where you were in your life, and compare it to where they are now. It’s all amazing.

I love that Bill Tom Gustav and Georg are all great friends who grew up together, and that resonates in their music and translates into a great relationship with all their fans!!! I think no matter what direction the band goes their fans will always be supportive, even through their evolution and change. This is a great interview:)

Jaycee, you shouldn’t really trust other sites besides the Official Fanclub because mostly those other sites are mainly rumor based. That’s why you have to wait ‘to see if it’s true’. With the Official fanclub, you won’t have to worry because it’s all true here! :3

I’m glad at Bill’s last statement. I’ve been getting the feeling lately, especially after everything going on with Tom/Perrine, and Bill having yet to find a girlfriend, that Bill might have been thinking about quitting the band- I wouldn’t blame him!! Sometimes, they just need a break. I hope sincerely, after The Humanoid City tour, they take at least a break- from songwriting, from touring, from everything- and just relax. That will give Bill the chance to find a girl, perhaps? And come back fresher and more awesome than ever :D

unfortunately, that’s not the case.
after the Welcome to Humanoid City Tour, they’re going to… South America I think? Idk I can’t remember. Then they’re going back to Europe to write songs for their new Album. Then later they’re coming tot he US… they’re gonna be insanely busy. But that’s how it is after you release a new album… I’m not too worried about them before. They’ve dealt with this kind of stuff for 6 years, give or take. I think (or hope) they’ll be just fine

…that doesn’t make sense- why wouldn’t they come to the US for the Humanoid City tour, but instead skip, go back to Germany to make a NEW album, and then come tour here?…that just doesn’t make sense. And all I was saying was that I hope they take a long break. And I’m sure they’re coming here for the Humanoid City tour, but just probably not until the end of the year.

I watched a video on youtube the other day and it had an article from Bravo in it where it said Bill was ‘unhappy’ and they had all ‘thought about leaving the band at one point’. This really scared me. The article was from late last year I believe, but still scared me.
I am glad to read this today because it sets me at ease. I would never want to see them unhappy, but at the same time I could never imagine the world without Tokio Hotel. These 4 amazing guys make the world much better by making such wonderful music. They make me a better person…a happier person. =]

Me too! I was so nervous that they all thought that, but, honestly, could you really blame them? Some fans are absoultely crazy, it’s probably the most overwhelming feeling in the world, and I wouldn’t blame them one bit. I wouldn’t like it, (I’d hate it!) but I definitely wouldn’t blame them…I feel so reassured tho :)
