Woot! This reviewer hits the nail on the head! “The 4 boys unsettle, seduce, and enchant.”
Kings of the Darkness
Like no other group in these years Tokio Hotel manage to bring the attitude of life to the point – therefore the 4 Boys from Magdeburg were rightfully awarded as “Best Band” at the MTV Awards.
In the end, everything came like expected: Katy Perry moderated – with her suspenders on – through the evening, Beyonce lounged, with her suspenders on, through her performance, Bono from U2 didn’t wear any suspenders, but he was very eroticized by himself, through his acceptance speech. And just before everything was over, 4 young men stood on the stage and thanked their Fans. Tokio Hotel was awarded as the “Best Band” at the MTV Awards – and the ones who were surprised by this, probably spent the last few years in a cave.

For a long time the 4 Boys from Magdeburg were designated as a mere “Pop-Phenomenon”, as a cloned retorts Band, as fake, alien-like and unreal like their Frontman: Bill Kaulitz, you could see that in Berlin, appears like a hero from a Manga Comic: almond-shaped, with kohl accentuated eyes, androgynous face, pale skin, slender pelvis, thin legs, studdet belt, backcombed hair. A 20 year old as an timeless artificial character. And that’s what you can’t tell by the music of the band.
When the Band released their debut Album “Schrei” and the Single “Durch den Monsun” in Summer 2005, they immediately rank on #1 in the German and Austrian Charts. 2 Years later, the song is still in the Charts – but this time on the french, italian and portugese ones. For their in 2007 released Album “Zimmer 483″ the french girl start learning german, and when Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg travelled to the US, their shows are sold out.
Wherever Tokio Hotel appears, the Band is the target of idolatry love. Or abysmal hatred. Nothing in between. The 4 boys unsettle, seduce, and enchant. And they succeed, because they brought it to the point, like no other Band in the last few years. The staggering and dreams of an entire generation on the edge of the abyss.

Dark, foreboding, and ominous are their songs, never inconsequential songs, like the Boybands from the 90s produced them. Tokio Hotel are singing about a world, which is haunted by monsoons and populated by Humanoids, a world, that “tipped over” and in which you can’t be certain of a lot of things. „Zwischen den Welten / Bin ich gefangen / Koordinaten / unbekannt“, Bill Kaulitz sings, and you don’t need a lot of talent to hear the attitude of life, of a disoriented, in need of love, nostalgic and romantic youth, the “Generation Crisis”, that’s how it’s called, the generation for which Stephenie Meyer also writes her somber Twilight-Series Novels.
“I’m consumed by a certain craving in all possible directions. But I think all the people have such an indefinite longing in them”, says Bill Kaulitz. Not long ago he turned 20.

Best Band, indeed. They should get all the awards in the world. They deserve all happiness, joy and love. Such beautiful human beings, inside and out ;)
Don’t see how some losers don’t like them. They’re either really jealous, or just plain stupid, blind and deaf.
I love Them so much. I hope they are never sad and get whatever they want from life.
Their music and Them – phenomenal.

I understand but at the same time dont how anyone could hate TH. They are utterly amazing. They are so nice, and kind-hearted. They obviously care about their fans. How can people not like them? Their music is so deep and meaningful. Its helped me through a lot in my life. I discovered them at a point were I needed anything to pull me out of my depression. Their music did that. I love them forever for everything they’ve done. I will forever be a TH fan, even in 50-60 years. Ill be an old lady still rocking out to their music:] Haha. Ich liebe Tokio Hotel fur immer.

lolll I’m already almost there (47 yrs old) but still not in rocking chair geezz loll I even went to their concert here in montreal in May last year and to my surprise; many ”post-teens” like me were there for the band and not just accompanying there kids ;-)) I have loved many bands over the years but, never listened to the same band for 2 YEARS IN A ROW, EVERYDAY! Cannot get enough of them ;-)As you said; fur immer <3

Tokio Hotel makes this bittersweet world much more sweeter than bitter. They’re like candy – addicting and enjoyable. We’re the cup and they the wine, and they will never leave us empty. They are the sun that lights up our world. The moon that lulls us to sleep. The dream we can never wake up from. This is what I think of Tokio Hotel. (More of my point of view of TH will come soon)

Okay.
So I just can’t get over how badass that second picture is.
I mean, look at it!
Gustav and his drums are surrounded by fire.
Tom is brooding in black, wailing on his guitar.
Georg is leaning back looking super cool on his bass.
And Bill has his fist in the air, singing his heart out.
With the firey orange backround, mist and smoke in the air and all the fans screaming around them, it makes the perfect picture. How can you NOT fall in love with these boys!?!

Exactly!!! This pic is epic badass!!! And if this would be Green Day (or any other band media in love with) staying on that stage surrounded by flames on this amazingly beautiful picture, we would be seeing this photograph all over Net with praises falling right and left. But not for TH :( That so f*** unfair… Sorry.
As for article, I can not stop reading it… So beautiful!

These guys are very inspiring. All four of them seem like trend setters, and they bring a different feel to the music industry. One of the reasons being is because, each of them have different styles. Opposites attract, and in TH’s case, for the better. I’m glad that they’re trying different things with their music, even though some people prefer the old TH much more. They’re just experimenting with different sounds and stuff. I give them props for that.

I love this part:
“almond-shaped, with kohl accentuated eyes, androgynous face, pale skin, slender pelvis, thin legs, studdet belt, backcombed hair.”
Don’t know of Jan Chaberny, the auther, is male or female, but even though he/she was trying to point out a Manga-type visual, it almost sounds more worshipful than anything else.
Funny, how Bill has that affect on people! Great article

“I’m consumed by a certain craving in all possible directions. But I think all the people have such an indefinite longing in them”, says Bill Kaulitz. Not long ago he turned 20.
Incredible way to end an incredible article. For once, it seems like the media are praising them for their combination of young age and wisdom instead of accusing them of being amateurs for the same reason. TH has come so far.

When I read that part, I had to stop, Stare at it, and read it 4 more times. It blew my mind.
It amazes me how wise and completely deep Bill is. It just goes to show that he is truly unique, especially for someone his age. Some people who are much older could only dream of having the perception and intelligence he has.
Awesome review! I think our boys have gotten a good number of newborn fans, thanks to the EMA’s! ;D

I think Bill [and Tom, for that matter] definitely has some wisdom stored within him, but most people don’t take them seriously enough/handle them seriously enough for him to impart it. His real wisdom is found in their songs instead, and that quote, for example, explains his outlook in the song Humanoid. In another interview, he explained the true meaning of Automatic—a reflection of how people regard them as an ‘automatic’ band. I think every TH song has a surface meaning and then a deeper one, but Bill leaves the deeper meanings, for the most part, up to our own interpretations.
*sigh* So many reasons to love this boy and this band.

One of the great things about Bill. He can be really goofy and fun(like in Geneva. :]) but when it really comes down to it he can be really wise and helpful and deep. Thats just one of the many things to love about him. :]

I love articles like these because they really describe how the band makes me feel. They aren’t just four gorgeous, sweet, kind-hearted boys. They don’t just make incredible music that you can’t stop listening to over and over again. They inspire an entire generation and change peoples lives by touching them in ways not thought possible through four young men. They are the greatest band of all time.
