This was captured by hjanne87 and it is simply amazing. Bill had a bodyguard with him there till the last minute. I love these fan videos SO SO SO MUCH! I get chills. Doesn’t the stage look SO much bigger from this view?

That was a camera guy. They totally rocked the EMAs!! I loved the performance. It was fantastic.. But does Bill really need to wear pumps/wedges thingy… What every they are called?? Hes the tallest rockstar ever!! Haha. :] Thats awesome footage.
Did anyone else hear what one of the fans was saying?? Haha. Sounded something like, “Im suprised he didnt burn his face off” or something with suprise and burn.. face off. Haha. Nicee. :] So wish I could have seen them live!!

that must’ve been a tad scary having fire all around them :O spooky stuff! but it was an amazing performance i can’t even begin to describe it. it was insane. they did an amazing job they always do. so lucky fans were there to capture the moments and let the rest of us feel the passion and music <3

u know what nd i’m unforgiveabla, i just noticed yesterday that images in the “wall” in the background was the images of the fall of berlin wall, when eople try to climb and g in the other side. oh go i was near of cry. what to say aboutthe performance except that they are just the BEST in the whole entire world ( georg your piano is burning lol). the fire thing was absolutely AMAZING. no words…

This is semi random, but did anyone else notice during the performance the images on the back wall? They’re really cool, and not so noticable on these recordings, but if you watch the official vid for this performance, the images are really neat. I wonder if they’re from the video? And the coolest part is that during the fire explosion on stage, the image behind them is of a wall being blown up! There is an explosion, and the rubble is flying through the air. It’s really neat.
I just wondered if I was the only one who noticed. :)

The videos behind the band on the wall was, I am pretty sure, actual footage of the Berlin wall 20 years ago. So it’s not band’s videoclip…

yes that was footage of the Berlin Wall from 1989, the year it came down, I remember being in school when it happened…also the year the twins were born–I thought it was interesting though how that was used as a backdrop for the performance when the song is not even about THAT wall, but it was cool that the EMA’s were in Berlin and it’s been 20 years, so it makes sense!

Screw all those German Medias that claim it was playback. Anyone who’s listened to the recorded version of this song more than once can tell this performance wasn’t playback. That’s right, they just played that freaking awesome.

unless they pre-recorded a version in a lower key (which i suppose is possible, i just don’t see it happening) it was completely live.

Well, I know that the VMAs require all artists to prerecord at soundcheck the day before, since it’s all about the performance. Imagine if someone made a mistake at the VMAs. That’d be *sarcastic gasp* scandalous! So it’s still live, just a live recording. But They might actually do the same for the EMAs. I know they did that in 2007. That Monsoon performance was prerecorded soundcheck the day before. But that could have been b/c they were playing with water, and they were worried about the equipment.

that’s quite interesting. thanks for the info. i actually did hear a few ‘imperfections’ in performances that night so i guess they use the back up and the live feeds.

i was actually wondering if they pre-recorded it live. you can definitely tell it’s his live voice but the way he moves sometimes is how he moves during a playback performance. now that you say it, it’s quite possible that they recorded him singing it the day before.

Do you know why people disliked the comment (and just to be clear, I don’t think you wrote anything wrong) is because you used P word. And it’s fine, but the argument about playback was such a hot topic that no one wants to start it again.
And IF (big IF!) it is pre-recording of final soundcheck, I DON’T CARE. It was performance I truly enjoyed. Bill was phenomenal with his vocals, doesn’t matter that night or night before.

wow!!! those live vids were awesome. it looks sooo much more intense!!!! i have no idea how they kept the camera so still cause i would have been freaking out!!! i was scared georg’s hair was gonna catch on fire while he was playing the piano at the end

yeah, he must’ve been so nervous just standing there in front of everyone. it’s one thing to go on and perform, but to stand there for ages while every one’s watching you first is something else entirely. he pulled it off like a pro, as always though. they all did. amazing.

Bill’s hair nothing! Gustav’s FACE was like, half a foot away from the fire. I was worried about the hair on his knuckles! :D And his hands in general.

I always wondered what happened during commercial breaks on award shows!
And I love hearing everyone singing along with Bill, espacially since I couldn’t hear it on the live stream! The reactions to the explosions were pretty great, too!
