OMG! So lucky! Love to the French fans. Tokio Hotel’s 3D Virtual tour is launching and today it was announced that the tour will climax with a live performance in the Paris region! Here’s the news!
Tokio Hotel Checks In To Virtual Tour By Andre Paine, London
German pop-rock act Tokio Hotel is launching a 3D holographic tour – a “virtual” performance to be shown in 12 cities across seven countries.
The promotion, which uses ground-breaking new technology, launches tomorrow (Oct. 2) in Berlin.
The performance will be broadcast via 3D holographic images in 12 stores of Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailer, the Media-Saturn Group. Hologram technology uses lasers and allows 3D images of the four musicians to be projected on stage.
Tokio Hotel will perform songs from their new album, “Humanoid” (Universal), for fans in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium. The 3D performance was filmed with Tokio Hotel in Hamburg in September.
Tokio Hotel’s virtual tour will begin at a Media Markt store in Berlin, followed by virtual shows in other European cities from Oct. 5-19. This includes a show in Magdeburg, Germany – Tokio Hotel’s home town.
The itinerary will climax with an in-person, live performance by Tokio Hotel on Oct. 27 at the opening of France’s largest Saturn store in the Paris region.
(update: This is now on October 28th!)
“This is the perfect innovation, using new technology to bring the excitement of one of Europe’s biggest bands to their fans in different countries,” said Max Hole, EVP, Universal Music Group International, in a statement. “It’s also evidence of our commitment to support and serve partners such as Media-Saturn, by delivering a great experience for the audience. We expect this to be the first of many such initiatives.”
The virtual tour is a partnership between Tokio Hotel, Universal Music and the Media-Saturn Group.

The date is not right!!
27 has to be 28, it’s on the official Saturn website.
Thank you, yes. We fixed it in a later post.

Helen> The show will begin towards 19.00 normally, you really want to go in paris for that? Because I will go there too (I live in France ^^), but I advise you to arrive in advance because for see tokio hotel, in Europe, it is necessary to wait very for a long time.. :/
But this “concert” is not sure

I think that’s cool that they are trying something new and creative but I hope it doesn’t mean those fans have to miss out on having a live concert at those countries too!

Just some informations about it:
I’ve been in touch with someone from Saturn France:
the concert on October 27th, is not sure !
The guy was really surprised that the info was leaked !!
The group had not signed anything for it yet. They’re still talking about it !
As for the 3D concerts, he told me that the tickets, there’ll be a contest to win them.
But that , apparently, the 3D thing is really impressiv and, as a fan, man relaly should go!!
that’s it for now! :D

i love them and all but everytime they come here to america we always get the crappy set up… well its not crappy… its just has no theme or whatever. europe has a theme and everything for their concerts. the european concerts always looks wayyy more fun than ours. Bill barely speaks to the crowd and repeats the same lines. But i still have fun though.

At least you guys get concerts here in the UK we haven’t had one since 2007 it was small for 800 fans and i hadn’t even heard of them then! I can’t stand it when you americans moan when tokio hotel are there more than in any other country!

this actually sounds very cool and futuristic, I’m curious to see if someone filmed it for youtube what it would look like..my guess is that the 3D effect would not be the same digitally…and also, am I the only nerdy one here or does it remind anyone else of Princess Leia’s “virtual message” to Obiwan stored in the android in Star Wars? Anyone? Hehe =)

they better come back to those countries and play a real show. if this is their replacement for actually performing i will be very disapointed. its a cool concept but its the same idea as watching a 3d movie, its all been recorded. i dunno maybe it cold be due to all the editing of sounds in the humanoid album that makes it hard to perform live?

I think it’s cool and it’d be interesting to see, but I would be so disappointed if I were those fans. Not being able to actually see them in person. It’s weird. Watching them through the internet already gives them that “untouchable” star quality, so getting to see them preform live is like them coming to life and becoming real people. Not celebrity untouchables. Does that make sense? They become real people (not that they’re not always real :P) when you see them live. I really hope they do a live tour in America. I haven’t been to one of their concerts yet. Like I said, it’s a cool idea and it’d be pretty sweet to see, but when it comes down to it, I would 1,000,000,000,000% pick an in-person show over a hologram. And I’m sure others would agree.
Thanks for listening to my rant! :P

Actually I think its kind of interesting. A virtual tour definitly ties in with the theme of their music this go-round. Virtual and Sciencefiction. All very cool. I bet it’ll be a blast to watch =]
