Interview Part 1

Backstage nahmen sich Tokio Hotel eine halbe Stunde Zeit für ein Interview mit I LOVE RADIO.
Im ersten Teil sprechen Tokio Hotel über ihr neues Album “Humanoid” und verraten, welcher weitere neue Album-Track neben “Automatisch”/”Automatic” am 18. September auf der ersten Single veröffentlicht wird!

“Humanoid” – Was heißt das eigentlich?


Bill: “Humanoid war ein Lebensgefühl, das wir immer hatten. Gerade Tom und ich hatten das von klein auf, das hat uns sehr begleitet, und es hat uns in der Album-Produktionsphase auch immer wieder eingeholt. Auch beim Songschreiben ist uns das immer wieder begegnet. Da lag es auf der Hand, das Album so zu nennen.”

“Humanoid” – What does that really mean?

Bill: “Humanoid was a Lifestyle that we always had. This Lifestyle especially accompanied Tom and me from a very young age, and it has caught up with us in the album production stage again and again – even in our songwriting stage. So it was obvious to call the Album that.”


Bill: “In ‘Automatisch’ geht es um ein Mädchen, das keine richtigen Gefühle hat und sie nur vorspielt. Das wollten wir auf dem Cover transportieren, indem wir diesen Roboterarm haben – und das Menschlichste, was es gibt, nämlich das Herz. Ich glaube, das beschreibt den ganzen Song ganz gut, und das Gefühl von dem Song.”

Bill: “‘Automatisch’ is about a Girl which has no real feelings, she’s just playing them. We wanted to transport this onto the Cover with the Robotic arm – and the most human thing, that is the heart. I think it describes the Song and it’s feeling very good.”

Tom: “Das Bild ist halt einfach geil. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt das Cover vielleicht so ein bisschen düster, aber ich finde, wenn man sich genauer damit befasst und es ein bisschen länger anguckt, ist es gar nicht mehr so düster. Ich finde, es ist sehr atmosphärisch.”

Tom: “The image is wicked. At first glance, the cover may seem a bit gloomy, but I think if you deal a bit more with it and take a closer look, it’s not quite as bleak as it appeared in the first second. I think it’s very atmospheric.”

Erkennen wir euch auf dem neuen Album “Humanoid” noch wieder, oder hört sich eure Musik ganz anders als, als vorher?

Bill: “Der Track ‘Humanoid’ beschreibt eigentlich ganz gut, dass es ein ganz anderer Song ist, auch vom Songaufbau, von der Songstruktur haben wir uns ganz frei gemacht. Ich bin ziemlich gespannt, was die Leute dazu sagen! Der wird auch schon auf der Single mit drauf sein. Ansonsten hat uns natürlich viel die letzte Zeit und das letzte Jahr beim Songschreiben beeinflusst. Ich will da noch gar nicht zu viel verraten, aber ich glaube, das hört man auf jeden Fall!”

Can we still recognize you on the new album “Humanoid”, or did your Music Style change comepletely?

Bill: “The track ‘Humanoid’ actually describes very well that it is a complete different song, even it’s structure – we’ve made ourselves quite free, when it came to the song structure of this song. I’m curious to see how people will react to this! The song will be on the Single too. Apart from that we, of course, were influenced a lot by the events of the last year when it comes to songwriting. I do not even want to reveal too much, but I think you can hear the change!”
