Someone has asked me why their comment was moderated. Here’s the scoop. “Gay”. The abuse of the word gay as a negative word, as in “OMG, the people at the store were so gay!” is something that I am very strongly against. In the USA, bullying about sexuality has recently resulted in two suicides of 11-year olds. We decided long ago to have a zero-tolerance policy about hate speech. Homophobic words, racist words, stuff like that? Not welcome here.
We encourage you to go read Think Before You Speak and join the campaign to stop the use of homophobic words. There is a cool feature called “say something original” where you can learn new words to use.
Take care. <3

Thank you so much for doing this! =) Yet again! *huggles* You have so much strength, I hope people see this and all these comments that support this, too, because there’s just too much straightforwardly negative stuff going around! I’m glad you don’t give up what this site is known for: its happy attitude and the general nice-ness that Schnee, for example, brings about! :>
Also, I don’t think this post was made to say in a “down with the homophobes!” kind of way. Of course, that’s what the definite majority of us want, but this wasn’t a reason to start cussing them out =)! (I only saw about one, so I don’t mean people who say they think the attitude is wrong! Of course, if they show it in a hurtful way, it is!(: ). That’s kind of opposite to what this post said :P But let’s just be nice about everything, rudeness against anything is always unnecessary. This post rocked! <3
And bullying really really is the worst thing in the world :’| I’m so glad people were so positive about this here! =)

WOO-HOO! *applause* *standing ovation* *catcalls*
Yesss! I am so happy to see this is a safe place free from hate speech!
I’m bisexual (and I think Bill is amazingly HOT) but I married a lesbian. My spouse and I were legally married in VT last year! Yay, equal rights!
Anyway, I’ve always been a proponent of respecting others’ rights to the pursuit of happiness whatever that may look like or where they come from. And thinking about what you say and how it could offend someone is part of living that way.
So, yay, this was my favorite website of all time before and now you’ve officially made a friend for life!

;x I’ve used that word before (but I usually just say “lame” xD or idiotic… something. Poo face, as my friend David likes to use LOL)… but never to insult a person. It’s usually my computer that’s being insulted >.> or if the fact that something costs an extreme amount… but :hide: that’s still no excuse, I know. In online messengers I spell it with an “he” in place of the “a” but ._. even though it’s spelled different, I guess people would still take it the same way even though I would never call them that to their face, or behind their backs even. It’s rude. However O_o my gay friend… he exclaimed “hellooo! I’m flaming gay! Of course I like Bill!!! He’s like… only the HOTTEST man on this earth!!!” lol… ja… anyways ;x ja, no excuse for me, even if I don’t direct it at a person to insult. I feel ;__; depressed now. 11 year olds??? Wow… it’s good that you guys moderate this stuff, Schnee.

Awesome! *bows down*
I’m so happy to hear I’m not the only one who cringes when someone says the word in such a negative view. I’m all pro-LBGT in my community and am forever getting on to people for such speech.
The fact that kids so young and so full of life would seek out suicide as a way of release from hatred should really say something. IMHO!!!

I hate people who use homophobic words just because they think it is cool. It makes others feel bad and it is just a mean way to talk to someone. I don’t get why people have to resort to those kind of words. It is is really childish.

OMG, thank you so much for posting this!
i watched the episode on oprah about the two suicides.
i think that is SO messed up.
it kind of pisses me off [can we say that?]
when people say things that cause SO much hurt over time,
and either don’t realize they are doing it.
or they don’t care at all.
like the other day, i got this chain text.
and it said something like
“99% of teenagers would cry if they saw miley cyrus standing on the edge of a roof, getting ready to jump. forward if you’re the 1% yelling DO IT B****!”
i was like ?!?!?!?!?!
what if something like that got around to her?
i bet they would all feel BEYOND terrible.
and the worst part is,
they don’t even have a reason to hate her.
same reason those kids who are calling everything by homophobic nicknames just think it’s cool and funny.
i would be singing DON’T JUMP!

AGAIN….
Its a joke, mostly. And miley (and other celebs) are probably used to it. Its not like celebs havent seen it b4, they know not every is madly in love with them. It WOULDNT KILL THEM TO SEE A STUPID CHAIN MESSAGE.
Yes, this stuff happens everyday, and not just about homosexuals. So quit bickering about it. Im not trying to be a jerk..but im not good at not being one.
I dont care if you say anything about me or disagree, its my opinion.
