Fashion Against AIDS shirts
May 30, 2009
Okay, we’ve sorted out what we have available and we’re ready to open back up to PMs! Please go to the forum, the team handling shirts is there, not here. Link to forum! Lots of good info there about sizing, etc.
We do not have Girls size 10 or 12. Those were in VERY short supply everywhere. The Boys size S is very similar to the Girls size 12, it’s just a little longer and a teensy bit wider. We do have a good supply of Girls 2-8 and a good supply of all the Boys sizes. We’ll fill orders until we’re out! PM Shirtstaff with your address and the size that you want and you will be contacted regarding making payment.
We will ship anywhere as long as you pay shipping. <3
Note: If you’ve sent us a PM already you don’t need to send another one. We’ve already got your order in progress and if there is a size shortage for what you want you’ll be contacted directly.
Thanks!

Friday Live: 1000 Oceans, Atlanta 2008
May 29, 2009
THA Song Survivor winner “1,000 Oceans” (I voted for “Ready, Set, Go,” but hey), live at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, October 28, 2008.
A live version was already posted when the song won, but I’m posting this one too, because I think this might be the best fan-recorded live video of the song on all of Youtube. And yes, you can see Gustav and Georg in this one! Thanks to Judy/AsnPhoenixAngel for making it!
Tokio Hotel Interview… FAA
May 28, 2009
Awesome interview. Mad love to Artax for his translation. Please credit him when you use this as it takes a lot of work and we are always grateful to our friends who do that for us. Here is how to get to the interview. Not sure if it is up on Youtube yet.
On the bottom of the page, there’s a row of links. Click on “Artists” and you will get this page.

Then Drag/Drop the artists into the different spots. The artists are kind of interviewing each other. Tokio Hotel can only be dropped into the “Answering” side. All the other artists can be dropped into either the question or answer side. The guys give the answers in German and there are subtitles. All the questions are the same regardless of artist. I decided to keep it in the Cherrytree family and have Robyn interview them.

Translation:
I did a more literal transcript/translation of the mini interviews:
Vid1: Why is it important for you to be a part of the FAA?
B: Um, I think for us it just was something… we heard of it, and for us as a band it’s of course good that we, with the music, because we’re in the spotlight, can do things, can engage for things… And I think that it’s a big topic, and especially with really young people… and, ehm… um… I mean, I know this: Tom is my brother, who also started pretty early with these things… It’s just a big topic, and we thought, like, to combine that with a T-Shirt and to make a big campaign out of it, we really liked that, and of course it’s an awesome message – and that’s why we took part.
Vid2: What can you say to your fans about protection?
B: Well, we think that that’s very, very important, because I think, or we both think: Sex is a good thing…
T: Yeah.
B: I think everyone agrees, and the important thing is to watch out for yourself, and that’s not hard to do, there are very simple things, you can do it very easily… always use a nice condom, and then you can romp around happily, like my brother… so, yeah: that’s all.
Vid3: Describe your personal style.
B: Well, I’m a total jacket fan. I think I have *pfft* no clue, can’t count them any more… I have my whole closet full with jackets. I love 2nd hand jackets and I love strolling through all the stores. And Tom is more the Hip-Hop…
T: …laid-back type…
B: …and, um, doesn’t really fit in with the music, I tell him always that he looks like crap, but he just doesn’t wanna listen. But, I’ll try to influence that a bit in the future. At least, now we’ve managed to wear the same T-Shirts… so, I think there’s hope yet.
T: As you can see: It looks better on me, definitely.
B: yeah. totally.
Vid4: What’s your favorite piece of clothing?
B: Well, I’m a total jewelry fan. I always have a whole suitcase (or even several) full with lots of silver jewelry and ten thousand rings, and apart from that – jackets. As I said, I collect jackets to no end, I have them in all colors or forms imaginable…
T: Bill also has these really exquisite knickers. Like, also with “Eingriff” in front…
B: *lol*
T: …and that’s extremely, one has to say, pretty style, often also adorned with – how’s it called: sequins, and so on. Yeah, he really has very pretty knickers, one has to say. Likes to collects them, too.
B: Yup.
(translator note: I don’t know how to translate “Eingriff”… I don’t even know whether that’s common in the US, too, or whether it’s mainly a European thing?!
Anyway, it’s this opening some male underpants have in front, so that, when you go peeing, you don’t have to pull down your underpants…
Many people consider it to be one of the most useless inventions in the history of human clothing. My theory would be that Tom some day was treated to a long monologue by Bill about the uselessness of “the Eingriff” – so it could have been some kind of an inside joke.)
Vid5: What part of your T-shirt design do you like the most?
B: Of course, the design was mainly my job, because I’m the one who knows most about these things…
T: But the slogan of course came from me. That’s clear.
B: Yeah, of course I was very much inspired by Tom and his experiences and so on… and we just tried to make the message short and memorable. Yeah, and apart from that: Skull – I have ten thousand skull things, and I thought it was extremely cool to do it like that, and of course we also took our logos, for the asterixs – I think everybody knows what it really says… And, yeah: I think it’s a cool T-Shirt. Of course we had to come to an understanding concerning the colors, Tom first made a bit of a fuss because of the pink there, and such…
T: Yeah, true.
B: … but I think, overall, it turned out quite well.
Vid6: How can music affect people in a positive way?
B: Ehm, well. We… Especially I have started very early to write my own songs, everything, trouble I had, or just things I had experienced, just to write it down and make it into songs. I think everybody has his own way: Some write a diary. I always wrote songs. And I think you obviously can transport many things that are important to you… For us, it’s a great time right now. We have lots of fans, we have the opportunity to play lots of concerts, and we have the opportunity to have many people listening to us. And then you can do things like right now, that you use this, that we make music and are in the public – and at the same time, work for a good cause. And I think listening is a lot more fun this way, when you get a message from you favorite band, instead of in school…
T: …and, especially, of course: From your favorite guitar player!
B: *inaudible*
T: Favorite band would be saying a bit much…
B: I know how it is in school: The teachers talk about it, we also had this whole stuff in school… I know that you rather listen to music and play “battleships”, instead of listening. So, I think it’s good to do it also this way, and especially also have a nice T-Shirt in addition… Yup.

You want contests? You are gonna get ‘em. You may not know this, but the USA fanclub is kind of addicted to caption contests. We have one every week, and the brawling is legendary. The prize? A copy of Schrei So Laut Du Kannst.

If you are interested in entering, you can read more about it here. We have some SERIOUSLY good captioners, so be prepared for the competition.
H&M Shirt news 4
May 27, 2009
May 28 update: Portugal, shirts already sold out. Sweden, getting really hard to find. USA, selling out like crazy. One store, all the employees of the store bought them out. It’s Tokio Hotel MADNESS. Their shirt is VERY popular.
Update on pricing from Marianne. In Glasgow, the shirts ran from £9.99 and 14,90 euros. In USD that is $14 – $21 or so. Depending on style and size and stuff. Hope that helps. OMG, we are so excited. *flails and runs around like we just swallowed 10 pounds of sugar*
Update! The shirts run small, but they are stretchy. The artwork is really nicely adhered on the shirt, so if you have a larger bust, you will not crack the skull. Heehee. The skull is grey, not white. In Denmark, the shirts are costing $129 DKK I think? So they are pretty expensive there (about $24 USD). The shirt she got was out early, our US shirts are not out yet, so we do not know what they cost. We have heard that they will be about $16 USD.
Earlier update.
Marianne got her shirt in Glasgow and has uploaded a picture of the inside collar! LOOK AT WHAT IT SAYS! It says TOKIO HOTEL! I think I know those guys!

StanWin is one of my favorite TH fanvidders…. he comes up with original, funny ideas and cleverly edits them in a way that makes his parodies and MVs stand out in a sea of fanvids. Here’s a parody he did of the careerbuilder.com TV commercial that aired during the Superbowl this year:
Here’s his parody of the opening for the classic TV show “The A-Team”:
And, since it’s COMET TIME, a two-part inspirational video (note: this is not all-inclusive. It’s more like a 13-minute highlight reel that goes up to the VMAs):
Keep voting! :)

Be part of history with Tokio Hotel
May 21, 2009
Fans? Your help is needed. Tokio Hotel, currently the most important band in Germany, will play a prominent role in an upcoming exhibition being organized by The Goethe Institute. The exhibition “Pop music made in Germany for Youth”, which will go around the world for five years, will present Tokio Hotel from the perspective of fans. The idea is to show young people from all over the world the enthusiasm, creativity and love of Tokio Hotel fans, in a kind of “fan-altar” for Tokio Hotel.
So, here is how you can help and be part of Tokio Hotel history! Send your photos of your fan items, your personal fan corners to the organizers at goethepop AT googlemail.com (replace AT with @ to protect from spambots)
Here are the kinds of things they are looking for:
- Photos of your rooms with Fan-Walls/Fan-Corners
- self-made Tokio Hotel objects (pictures, collages, …)
- Letters to the band/the band
- Concert Tickets (demolished)
- Autograph Cards
- Buttons
- Poster
- T-Shirts
- Other ideas?
If the organizers will be able to use what you email to them, you will receive more information. Because the exhibition is slated to start in summer, you have to hurry!
The deadline to submit anything to them is May 29, 2009! That’s next Friday!!!
About the Goethe-Institute: The task of the Goethe Institute is to promote the German language and to improve the culture collaboration, for example, the increase in number of students learning German due to knowing about Tokio Hotel.
So…please help to make this exhibition a success and submit to them as soon as you can! Good luck!
