Here is our first joint spotlight! Joss and Jess wanted to do their together!
Hi my name is Jay or Joss for short and I’m from Bronx, New York. I’m the owner of an NY/NYC Tokio Hotel Street Team.
It was January 27 2008 and I was on Youtube’s homepage looking at some videos because I was bored. I saw a blurry image of someone with black hair in a video image so I decided to click on it. once I did the title was “Bill and Tom”. the first image of the video was a guy with long spiky black hair, and from his looks I thought he was girl, then the next image was a guy with dreadlocks and by his looks I thought he was a girl too! So I stopped the video and looked at some comments, I read one comment that said “I love Bill he’s hot”. Once I read that I still thought Bill was a girl, so I went to search Bill and Tom until I came across “Tokio Hotel- Ready, Set, Go”. So then that’s when I found out Bill was a guy and Tom was too. but I was more interested in Bill so I decided to look him up on Youtube. Then, there’s was a video about him and I fell in love with him even though he was 18 years old by that time. So I heard more of their songs until I heard of “Don’t Jump”, that song reminded me of my suicidal problem in 2007. Since then I was a big fan of them and I remember I first showed a picture of them to my mom and I was pointing to Bill my mom said “You love him!?” I told her “No mom I like their music”. Sooner later my mom started to like them a little bit, I was hoping for that to happen. Every time I get mad or sad I listened to there songs and they make me happy, I never felt like this before for someone especially for a band. Thanks to them I stopped my suicidal problem and they saved my life with their songs.
My only two goals is hope that The NY/NYC Street Team becomes very big in the US and hope that some people will join us. My second goal is that I hope that people will like Tokio Hotel in the future, because Tokio Hotel is a great band, not to mention they won a VMA award. I hope people will listen to their songs and understand them. I heard so many people say that they hate them because their fans or because they’re different from other bands. Well, we us fans can’t help to love them so much and scream our lungs out in their concerts. Also Tokio Hotel is just like any other band I mean look at them, they’re pretty young to do all of this, their International, and they have millions of fans that love for their music. I really hope that in the next 10 years the band is still together and making music for us fans.
————–
Hey, I’m Jess – a.k.a. Jessumsx813 :) I’m from Long Island, New York and I’m 16. I discovered Tokio Hotel almost a year ago, and I am honestly beyond astonished that I’m still as huge a fan – if not bigger than I was back then.
I use a site called mp3fiesta to buy music, because it’s cheap and great. Each song (at the time) was 10 cents, and each CD was a dollar (it’s been bumped up to .20 and 2.00). The site gave me some free money for the holidays, and I spent it really quickly. I had spent almost all of my money, except for 20 cents. So, curious, I asked a good friend of mine to suggest a band. “Go look up Tokio Hotel” she said. so I said, sure why not. I asked for a song suggestion, and she said “1000 Meere”. so I gave her an odd look, and she says “They’re german”. I shrug and say “alright, Erin. I’ll give ‘em a shot.”
so off I run to Youtube, hunting down this supposed 1000 Meere. I started the song, and minimized the window, just listening to it while I did other things. They were fabulous, and I was blown away. So I went to buy two songs – Ready, Set, Go! and Love is Dead.
I was listening for hours and hours… and I realized I hadn’t seen what they looked like yet. So I opened a google window, and looked them up… and I was blown away.
needless to say, I was in love at first sight ;)
In the past year I’ve met so many amazing people through this fandom, and I will always cherish it. I’ve found the TH fandom to be like a little family. We’re all behind one another all of the time. I’ve gotten both my friends and family really into them, and their part of the reason that my best friend and I became as close as we did – bound by the love for their music, and the fascination with them.
even my godmother loves them, and is constantly playing the ‘Scream’ album on repeat in her car.
—————
Together we run a NYC Street Team along with Kathey & Alex, who are two of our prime idea-ladies ;) unlike it’s name, the team is for those who can get to NY, such as those in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and any others who are close enough. We’d really love to get it to be official, with a large number of members. We’ll be planning fan gatherings and parties in the city to help promote the band. We have quite a few things in mind to do, and we can’t wait for this team to take off!
if you’re interested in joining, go add us at http://www.myspace.com/434033960
we are working on another site for those who don’t have access to myspace, but it’s still in production :)

OMG!! this is so exciting!!!!
I totally agree with MANDY! Usually I get in love with a band but it only lasts like 2 months or less; but then I found Tokio Hotel and since the begining I knew they were special. When you listen their music they make you feel part of it, for a some weird reason you feel that they undestand you.
When I first discovered them, it was by a pìc, so I wasn’t very sure, so then I downloaded Monsoon and Love is dead, and they totally caught me!!! And that’s how it all started!!!
The funniest thing that has happened to me is the first time I saw Monsoon video in MTV, I thought that I was going crazy with Tokio Hotel, cause at the time almost nobody knew them in Mexico, nobody listened me until Tokio Hotel they saw the video for themselves!!!
I’m so glad to hear all this stories about girls who knew them since only like 3 or 4 months but they’re already huge fans!!!
It’s what Tokio Hotel causes in you! You sleep, dream, eat, breath TH!!! And I love it!!!
I still scream and smile when I see them anywhere!!!!
Even my 10 year old sister is in love with Tom, she doesn’t recognize it, but she is. And my brother, who says that he hates them, he learned to play in the guitar Monsoon and Don’t Jump! And my mom, she keeps saying that Bill is gay, I already ignore her, but the other day she surprised me when she told me: “I like how he sings” huge thing in my mom, since she only likes Alejandro Fernández!!!
Keep going TH Fans!!!!!
(Sorry if it’s too long!!)

awww are the stories are so beautiful. *O*
well i never questioned the sexuality of bill.
in the instand that i saw him
i now that he was a man a really hot one
because one of my friends brought a poster that the title say
THE MAN´S WHO ALL WOMAN WHANT or something like that xD
bill was the first guy that i saw and i was like OMG look at this guy is so handsome and bla bla bla….
after i saw bill i start to search information about the band and like the girl of the history i identificate whit the song of don´t jump so yeah since that day im adicted to that band in october was the los premios and i do everything what I could to have the opportunity to go and saw him i participate for e-mail, and phone messages, radio station etc. and when i have the tickets I had to be standing up like for 7 hours D:
but everithing goes well xD. so yeah and now im here in this great page practicing my englinsg and reading beautiful historis about people that love one of the best band in the world.
uumm.. i think that tokio hotel could do a contest where the fans send they historys about how they meet the band and the girl or girl´s that they choose won a day whit the band xD
so yeah that´s my history and sorry for my english im working on that sorry if its to long n_n

I will never forget the day when I saw them for the first time.
TRL August 2008 when the “tokio hotel week” was happening. I also questioned myself if Bill was a girl o_O and I thought they were Japanese cause of their looks and band name. lol :3
Then I found myself lurking through the internet as an obsessed maniac o_O watching every vid I found in Youtube related to the boys lawl. The first 2 months of fandom aren’t healthy let me tell you :| but now I’ve let it slide a bit, but i still fin myself lurking like a maniac sometimes… xD I’m just happy that I’ve been able to be there fan until today and hopefully the rest of my life. I’ve never felt so much love for a band before XD

I think its the best part about being a Tokio Hotel fan is being able to learn about the others and how they came to love the boys to♥
And no matter how different the stories are they all come back to the same thing: We love them.
Both of the stories are really touching <3

I have made so many new friends because of that and some of them are the funniest and greatest ppl I know and we all come together because of us sharing that one thing together. Liking Tokio Hotel

I actually heard about this band about a year and a half ago, but I never looked them up. I was in Germany this summer and I was expecting to hear them all over the place, but I never heard them once… Although, I had never heard them before, so I didn’t know what to expect. It might have played and I just didn’t know. So I decided to look them up once I got back from my trip. I never once thought Bill or Tom were girls… maybe I heard they were all guys. I can’t remember. Anyway, I love them now. My most played songs on iTunes are Scream and Ich bin nicht ich. I took German all 4 years in high school and then a year in college (I go to Arizona State), so I know a bit of german. I just can’t believe how much TH has helped me learn the language as well. haha

EXACTLY! lol I actually know more German and I know how to pronounce the words a lot more than the people in my class, which is German 102 O_O and it’s really all thanks to TH =P I mean… I would look up German words back in ’03… but after listening to this band xD I’ve somehow picked up their accent while speaking German, and I can get the gist of pretty much anything that they say…

I have to say that if it wasn’t for my friend suggesting that I look up Monsoon,I really would not be on this page right now so i’d have to thank her for making me look up the song (When I saw Don’t Jump for the first time I cried because the music was so Beautiful). To tell the truth, i’ve been a fan since December 2008 but I feel as though i’ve been their fan since they started and i’m so glad that I found out about them because their music just brings the light to my day and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR MUSIC. It is AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL,AMAZING AND THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN IN MY LIFE!!!!<3 I want to thank Joss and Jess for sharing their stories they were truly awesome.

My own mother loves listening to them!!! I’ve caught her singing Durch den Monsun and Spring Nicht ;) lol

:( I’m sorry it’s getting annoying for you to read about them constantly… I’m not sure what to tell you. To me, I’m surprised I’m still as big of a fan as I was back at the end of August of 2006!!! I’m more of an avid fan now than I was when I first discovered them, and I love reading about them ;) I’m still finding things out about the boys that I never knew lol… but :( I guess if you’re obsessed, you can’t really help it. Just try not to let it run your life O___O It takes a very bad toll on your grades ;x especially if you’re in college…

For me, it all began on a day of August 2006, when there was the first post about Tokio Hotel in a French magazine (One)… Like a lot of you, I also wondered if Bill was a girl or a boy and that made it ! I went on the Internet to listen to their music and it blew me away ! ^^ On that day began my love for this great group !
They are the best !

Ok the first time I discovered TH was in September when I was watching the vmas preshow. I saw them coming up on their Tokio Hotel Truck (which was awesome!) and I was like WOW they are so interesting and cool looking! I had never heard of them before and my kids had not either) and I thought Bill was a girl at first. So as I watched the show and saw how they won their award because of their fans I had to google them. When I watched the “Ready Set Go” video I was hooked and fell in love! Bill and Tom are so adorable! I ordered the cd right away from amazon.com and I just about listen to it every day. I actually got my 11 yr. old daughter into them also but I think I’m a little more obsessed than her! lol My 14 yr. old son even downloaded some of their songs on his ipod. His favorite are scream & break away. This fan club site is the best for all the news on them and I check in every day! And I also love how its like one big happy family here! Thank you so much!!!

I love reading stories about other fans and how they found Tokio Hotel. YouTube really made their fanbase grow. I was one of them who got addicted to watching their videos on YouTube. It made me love them more and more.
I wish there was a street team in Malaysia. It would be great fun. How do you start one? Haha.

that’s true! It happened 2 me too..
I just discovered TH in mid. December ’08, and it’s kinda funny, because it all started when I was browsing on deviantart.com
I found a Bill fanart wallpaper by someone and then I remember that my sister once told me that she found a weird band;-”and the vocalist–oh, u must see him…he has a KISS-like hair, but wth the face like zac efron…”- LOL XD
so, I decided to do a little search on youTube and……….got blown away..
I LOVE youTube XD XD XD XD XD
I become addicted to watch their videos, and being a fan since then..I listened to their songs, and even though they’re not the kind of music I’d usually hear, they turned out quite good. I once had 1000 meere & vergessene kinder played all day long in my playlist ;D
wish we had a Th street team in here too….*sigh*

I know how u feel.
I haven’t been a fan for that long either, in fact the first time I ever saw TH was at the VMA awards in 2008.
I saw them win their award an the look on their faces was priceless.
I didn’t think much of it but then something made me look them up on google and the Windows Media Player thingy. I was definitly love at first sight. They hooked me real good. Their music is INCREDIBLE and I also feel like I’ve been there since they first began. *I LOVE THIS FEELING*
(SORRY IF MY COMMENT IS TO LONG BUT IT’S HARD TO EXPERSE MY LOVE FOR THIS BAND IN A SHORT COMMENT) :)

The look on their face WAS priceless, and alot of people who saw the way they looked and the way Bill spoke and their reaction at the VMAs and became incredibly curious. My friend looked them up b/c of Bill’s hair, a few kids looked them up b/c of the monster truck, one girl in my math class looked them up, because she didn’t understand why they were THAT excited, and a girl in my english class looked them up b/c since Bill had an accent, she actually thought he was mentally retarded! So she looked them up to see if he, as some one with mental retardation, had much talent. When I explained that he wasn’t, he was just German, she was embarrassed for the rest of the day! *sigh* it was priceless.
What is a street team, by the way? What do they do? I want to start one in my area, but I want to know what that entails. Could someone tell me???
