Gérard Depardieu

Tagged With:

In an inteview, Gérard Depardieu was asked about Tokio Hotel. He spoke highly of them. Thanks to purplehaze from TH USA Fanclub forum. for translation. If you do not know who Gérard Depardieu is, you can find out more on the Wiki.

Interview to Depardieu:
In previous years, you were often seen in major European television productions like “Der Graf von Monte Christo” or “Napoleon”.

But something like that is increasingly rare. A kind of industrial handling has entered the field of the film industry, that’s terrible. This development has also affected television. Big cross-country projects such as “Napoleon” are no more, now all that is dead, but we must not lose hope. Take the music for example, there’s a lot going on. The young French are crazy about the German band Tokio Hotel. I find that extraordinary. And it doesn’t matter whether one finds the music silly or not.

What do you think about Tokio Hotel?

I think, we should never look down on the apostle of teenagers. Tokio Hotel sing in German, and there are many young French, who now learn German only because of Tokio Hotel.

The Goethe Institute in Paris reported recently a rush to its German courses, as a result of the mania around Tokio Hotel.

There you are! That’s great, because there’s something going on. For young people that are those moments that change their life. And that confuses the adults. The chef of one of my restaurants has a daughter who is crazy about Tokio Hotel. And that scares him. I always try to reassure him: “Let them, that’s good, this way they learn German.”

Merci Gerard! I am a 43 year old mom with 3 young boys. I came across TH this past summer while tuned into MTV. I loved the song and the video… the rest is now history. After immediately buying Scream, then Zimmer and Schrei… me and my kids are all hooked! My youngest son who just turned 5 can sing most of the German songs perfectly… it’s amazing and inspiring!! He loves Tokio Hotel and he loves music… he wants to play drums like Gustav. My other boys ages 9 & 8 also love the English and German songs. My kids are already learning Spanish… we will be working on German too because we want to understand all of Tokio Hotel’s awesome songs. I even took my kids to a CD signing in our homestate of Pennylvania… it was a thrill for us to see the band up close and get their signatures. Age is nothing but a number… music is universal and ageless. Music changes lives and influences cultures and connects us to each other all over the world… it is the most powerful thing I know. I’ve been inspired by Bill’s vocals, the great melodies and guitar rifts… and the collective talent of this young band is incredible. I love that so many fans around the world are connected by Tokio Hotel, regardless of age or nationality. I look forward to listening to more great stuff from TH. Magnifique!!

I’ve loved him ever since I saw “My Father the Hero” about 14 years ago!! I still love that movie.

My mom hates my music (mostly hard rock and metal, so TH is actually really light for me :) )… and anyone with a tattoo, so she doesn’t understand. She thinks “I jumped off the deep end.” Ah well… My dad is just whatever. He doesn’t really get it either, but he doesn’t say too much about it.

I think I need to buy some of his movies now! this guy deserves much love. And he’s a good actor too, Paris je t’aime was a really cool film!

Yay for respectable people who love Tokio Hotel. I think in the end it will all come out alright. Because, who loves Tokio Hotel? Awesome people of culture and intelligence and multinationality. Venerated actors, world leaders (President Sarkozy and the prince of Monaco, anyway), the award-bestowing powers-that-be of the music industry, and of course us – the most brilliant and beautiful fans in the world. And who hates Tokio Hotel? That piece of human waste Perez Hilton, and a few pizzafaced wannabe-serialkiller boys listening to death metal in their dumpy bedrooms.

    I sense imminent world domination.

Hahaha. I wish I could get my parents into them but none of them listen to music that much, and my dad just shrugs off my obsession. He calls Bill my “Mr. McDreamy”. :D :P
But after we ate next to them my parents understood them better..it’s kinda different when your whole family meets them o.O

Hang in their Kid, my family is UBER conservative Christian, and I had to keep my liking of them secret for almost a month because of the way they look, and I didn’t tell anyone I was in love with Bill for even longer. My parents are SEMI okay with it, but my grandfather calls Bill a “neo-nazi queer”. *sighs* your parents will get it in time. Just be glad they are alright with your love right now.

Oh, I wish I could have a chat with all your parents. My daughter is 13, and I’m the one that discovered the guys and got her into them.. now we’re both equally obsessed, and SOMEHOW I still manage to hold down a fulltime job, manage a home and be a productive citizen. Isn’t it amazing that it hasn’t destroyed my brain or been otherwise “bad” for me!

Well, to be fair, I was an 80′s hair metal loving teenager, so Bill’s appearance didn’t phase me – I’m used to dudes with makeup and spiky hair. That, and the fact that I never stopped loving music and going to see bands live. I can’t wait for the guys’ next tour so we can go see them 3-4 more times… let the 2009 concert budgeting begin!

My life; my love of TH get over it I say! :D An d good on you Uber-mom!;-)

Technically, you “third” that, but w/e ;)
And I fourth it! If I wasn’t learning something from Tokio Hotel, my dad would have condemned the band from the house! He hates them, and he doesn’t like how obsessed I am, but He says “it’s always a great thing to learn a second language, and if a bunch of effeminate men are doing just that, hey, whatever gets you to learn!”
Though he does say if I print out any more pictures of Bill to put on my wall, he’s sending me to a ‘Bill-lovers anonymous’ meeting. And extensive psychotherapy. :D
