Tokio Hotel makes history with VMA noms

Thank you to Coolbreezegirl for this info! only two german videos have been nominated in the past for VMA. Sadness part 1 by Enigma in the early 90s (late 80s?) and Be my Lover by la Boucheóm ten years ago. Both these artists only had one nom each. TH is the only one that has double nominations and also one for artist and not just video. If we also vote enough for Video of the Year they might even score 3 noms! major Epic. But even if they don’t they have still made music history.
THs presence there at the red carpet (well mostly Bill to be honest) will guarantee them pics in mainstream North American media as well as in the rest of the world; all over Europe, Latin America and Asia. If TH will win it will generate big headlines even in markets where they are less known like in UK and people will pay attention. TH at VMA saves Interscope millions and millions in marketing costs because it is all free publicity. Win-win situation for both TH, label and us fans all over the world!

I live in the UK and like NO ONE knows who they are here!!! The people of England are really missing out on the TokioHotelNess!!
My friends only know who they are because of me going on about them and one of my friends thought it was a hotel in Tokyo!! And if I ask anybody “do you know Tokio Hotel?” they’re like “erm. nope never heard of them” It is sooo depressing that they don’t release their albums here or promote themselves here coz I know the UK would LOVE them if they actually knew who they were!
But on a good note in the next week or so the toys in McDonalds are gonna be Tokio Hotel music thingys so people will listen to it and go “WOW that is amazing, I must find out about this band” and the whole of the UK will be turned into Tokio Hotel minnions haha!

haha i’ve been voting.And i hope they’ll win instead of –f’n– miley cyrus.i was a lil worried bout all the pre-teen votes and all.but hearing you guys talk and be so dedicated is making me feel A LOOOT better :D
I got to spread the news and enlighten people on who they are,where they’re from and all that good junk.I hope to see them win and achieve success.It’ll make my world.I also believe that there are already fake fans.I’ve known about TH for some years and I AM from the U.S. since everyone in america is just finding out about them within the last yr or so–it’s just been a lil weird.it’s only cuz i was the only one in my area and state and all that listened to them.But i do like how they’re making their dreams come true.And we get to see them more often ;D

I am excited about their nomination and worried about the competition: Miley Cyrus = A million Tween votes also, the Katy Perry song is like a disease you can’t get rid of…it’s THAT catchy.

hello, I’m from Germany,
I think we can be proud that TH represents our country at the VMA’s
really hope the will win, but I don’t think they are an pop act,
however they are doing a good job, although they are very still young. besides the music, they are doing so much for our language more than every of our politicians could ever do.
and I’m also sure that they will perform at the VMA’s I think MTV already planned that but they will wait before they announce it.
the song will probably be “READY, SET, GO!”
P.S. if you want I can easily translate any kind of report or news on TH.

Congrats boys, you deserve it! I’m so proud of how much they’ve grown over here in the US in just a few short months, they’ve had so many sold-out shows and many many more to come…I’m psychic ;-)
I’ve never felt this way about a band before and that’s why I just know they’re going to be huge over here. I know what a lot of you mean when you say that you wish they would just be ‘your band’ because I used to think that way too. It’s awesome to know of a GREAT band but even better when people actually know who you’re talking about and their songs. And let’s be honest…can you really get sick of their songs? I think not…
And…with more publicity they’re getting we get to see them on our ginormous TV’s and not tiny YouTube videos. I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t help but beam everytime I see them on MTV – I flip out when I hear that helicopter chopper noise…

Ahh so exciting.
I want them to get famous so it will be easier to get to their products, imports and ebay suck, but as fans we cant really get to them, one on one, the same way we are now.
Its give and take for the fans, and all good for the boys!!!
P.S. It would be terrible if they didn’t win anthing *no Jinx* and came all this way for what..

I agree with number 3. I mean, I don’t want to sound like a bad fan or a selfish fan, but I don’t really want them to get really famous here. I mean, I want them to be successful and all, but they already are in Europe.
I just feel that if they get famous they’ll turn out like the Jonas Brothers – you know, 3248394058304985034 screaming little girl fans, overplayed music (which gets so annoying), and all that jazz. To me, bands are a lot more fun when they are less known. But, of course, MTV has to go and publicize every band in a most obscene manner. That’s why I hate MTV.
Plus, them getting big also brings about the question of them losing sight of their German culture. Look at it now; they already call Georg George. It’s something small, but it’s still something, nonetheless.
And finally, big boy bands ALWAYS fade out after a few years. I think I’d die if that happened to TH.
I know they probably are going to get/already are famous here, but, to be honest, I’m not all that thrilled about it.

@ 9. Enigma is considered a German band mostly because a majority of the people who worked on the Enigma project are from Germany; , David Farstein and Frank Peterson and Sandra even though the founder Michael Cretu is from Romania. Enigma’s main label Virgin Schallplatten is also german.

so like she told me UK seriously needs to be converted to TokioHotelism, since come on it’s right there in Europe
