To the people who are copying this blog…

April 16, 2008 by Schnee

Hey guys, there are now about 3 or 4 of you readers who come here several times a day, copy the posts here and post them on your blogs, don’t give credit, as if you are writing them.

Now, you might be new to blogging, so let me give you a lesson. When you copy from someone, at least give them credit. It is not fair for you to take OUR words and post them as if they are yours.

You need to put the source in each post. So if you get it from us, you credit us. If you get it from tokiofans? You credit them.

Blogging does not mean you COPY/PASTE someone else’s work. Hope that helps. You can copy the news, sure.

It’s obvious that people who take a text from someone else should credit that person. You must always write a source of everything that you take from someone else to show respect.
I hope the people who don’t credit you (or someone else who they take their text from) will start to do that now! Really good that you bring it up! :D

I have a blogg in swedish about Tokio Hotel, and yes I can take sometimes a text from someone else but I ALWAYS credit them. Sometimes I even change the text but I always write the source. It’s veeeeery important to write the source.

I admit that I have translated the news from here into Danish and then put it on a Danish site – but I always tell them where I got it from.

I totally agree. I love this blog and I really think the owner (owners?) is doing a great (!) job with it. If I ever use something that’s been written here or even tell someone about the info, I always write/say where it’s from. I mean.. Why shouldn’t I? Everyone should, like you others say, give credit to whoever give the fans information about something. And like I said before; this blog is GREAT (like you didn’t already know.. haha) and I could honestly say that it’s one of the best I know of.

Btw, (yeah I know it doesn’t apply to the subject.. but) could someone PLEASE be an angel and tell me if there are still tickets left to Bamboozle? And if so, where can I buy one?

Okay, okay, I’m the owner of the fanstress blog. I just want to say sorry for this and I’m new to blogging anyway. So I don’t really know the rules. I’ve credited all of my blog. Thanks for telling me this. =)

Ooh, right, okay. Thanks for the info 8)

I was just also thinking about the fact that when
texts/interviews/news or whatever are translated into another language, it would be nice to get the _original_ source, which is sometimes missing from the Finnish sites. That’s just what I would expect to find.
Like some texts that are taken from here, but naturally not “word to word” since it’s another language. But yeah, I don’t know, I’m just happy I don’t own a site : D

Rufflebutt, i didnt know you had another blog? lol,,

    thieves…..*sigh

Sailor, no it is appropriate to give credit unless you do all the news hunting and translating yourself. There are many TH news to report about and yet those blogs copy us WORD by WORD, our exact entries in the exact same order. it’s not ethical to let soembody else do the news gathering, and then just hit ctr+c and ctrl+v and pretend like you’re not copying another blog.

Take this blog for instance and compare it with THA:
    http://thkaulitz89.wordpress.com/
They have copied everything, entry by entry. Not very ethical nor nice.

there s no problem in passing the news around, but its whenever they write it that implies that it was them that wrote it, such as “we heard..” etc,,

i think thats what rufflebutt meant sailor, right? oO

  18. reden says:

Sailor in short yes. If there is new video/interview from boys of course you will repost it, but don’t copy the words of original blogger where it says something like ‘OMG, they are so sweet’. Take the news and run your own commentary.

Thanking the news finder for scoop won’t hurt though and credit translations always.

  19. Sailor says:

so it’s okay to just put the news on your site without any link to the original source or anything?

If you don’t use the words, “We heard…” or so on, it’s okay?
    sorry, I’m just confused O_o’
