this is an actually an amazing review considering that revolver is a METAL magazine

    HELLLOOOO a METAL magazine
and being compared to guns’n'roses is amazing
sure they got compared to hannah montana
but SOME metalheads think that they’re just as bad

I agree with Zillah, being compared to Guns’n`Roses is very good, but the rest of the review is bad. Sounds to me like somebody’s garage band never caught on and now he is a bitter reviewer.

Its kinda stupid that they put that type of review in there because a metal head CAN tell the difference because my sister was a Metal head and hated Hannah Montana but said ” Oh they[ tokio Hotel] sound so new and refreshing” SO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Metal heads CAN tell the difference.

Ok, I don´t know how to say this in a way to avoid stepping on any ones toes. Because I will either hear:
    “Bill is NOT GAY!” or
“Just because Bill isn´t gay, doesnt mean I have anything against gay people”
    or….
    jaa..
    things like that…

All this *pointing upwards*, I know…I just wanted to say it ANYway, just so…well…
people who actually had the patience to read all this and actually cares about my opinion would know what I think…
    In other words…basically no one…

so I´ll just say this now:
I don´t have anything against gay people!!! The other way around actually.

    *runs away*

I saw this magazine today and the rating is actually out of 5 stars, not 4 (other album reviews had 5 stars, but generally 3.5 was an average for most bands). Bad news, I’m sorry >.<

i’m glad people are finally recognizing TH here, but comparing them to HM is……..BOGUS! what kind of idiots compared them to that hick of a pop star?! AHHHHHHH! why couldn’t they have compared them to MCR or something?! this is wack. they aren’t even similar to HM!!! losers……..*rolls eyes*

  11. Rufflebutt says:

Oh sure, Meghan! I do understand. I just worry that when they say flamboyant it is so often used to describe gay people and I hope they don’t start that with Bill. Although I don’t think Bill cares. *hugs*

i was scrolling down the comments here, and conjuring my own opinion when i couldnt help but notice, that you, Meghan, are now in a straightjacket too…………..i must tell you that a very big smile stretched across my face,,,,,, it begins :)

(side note)… Rufflebutt… just to clearify lolz i personaly kno what flamboyant means but uno how you can interpret things differently from other people? I think some of us just took as a lil more on the negitive side… like as if they are too flashy… and too colorful… so to speak… so no disrespect to you or anyone else im just puting it out there… :) (side note)

Sorry but i beg to differ on the whole… “And metalheads probably won’t hear much of a difference between Montana’s girl-power pop and the bubblegrunge jams on scream”… I AM a metalhead.. i listen to Suicide Silence (music video got banned from MTV), Hatebreed, Bury your dead, Emmure, and pretty much anything heavy!! There is a HUGE difference and i think it is refreshing when i can put Tokio Hotel on because it is soo different from what i listen to.. but it still has that rock sound i love!!!
i can tell the difference.. Hannah Montana is exactly that bubblegum.. and Shit!! Tokio Hotel is on a Whole other level than she is.. Especially Musically (instrument wise) and Lyrically.. Tokio hotel reaches out to a much bigger crowd!!!
Mikael before you write a Review on a band.. you need to actually listen to the CD!!! MMK!?

OTHERWISE! it is WONDERFUL to be getting them in the American Magazines.. because it is sooo hard to Break into the American Music Industry!!! And their Rating is amazing too!!
I CANT WAIT FOR THEM TO COME TO TEXAS TOO!!!
    I’M officially DONE!
    Thanks.

OK, it insults me that he is writing off Tokio Hotel as being a tween band. Sure the majority of their fans are between he ages of 14 and 17, but that doesn’t mean that the music caters only to that group.

I do agree that metal heads may find Tokio Hotel a bit weak. I like hard music, and I didn’t like Tokio Hotel’s music the first time that I heard it. At first I thought that it was a little too perky and light.

To mention Tokio Hotel and Hannah Montana in the same article is the greatest insult of all.

  16. carlz says:

I don’t like the Montana comparison but the rating is far better than I expected to see in a mag like that!!!

freaking great rating!!!!!! not so great article :/ …

“And metalheads probably won’t hear much of a difference between Montana’s girl-power pop and the bubblegrunge jams on scream” WHAT??!! HAS HE EVEN LISTEND TO THE CD???!! and that is NOT him comparing their succes but comparing their music! What an insult.. blah..

Oh well, that was a good rating. On the HM part, he was using a metaphor, he wasn’t comparing their music; just talking about the huge success they both have. And the “four” at the beginning it’s alright. He wrote 4 in letters, meaning 4 German guys.

i like the 3 out of 4 but the article was ok O_o lol

neways i mit be off topic but why do these ppl call them and ‘emo band’ i think they’re not one o.O

Flamboyant is not a bad word.
2: marked by or given to strikingly elaborate or colorful display or behavior

It’s not a word that only applies to gay people or anything.

  29. meghan (in a straight jacket) says:

i didnt like this review… i am a total emo chick at heart everything i do screams “crazy emo chick” (altho i dont look IT)

and i will let them kno that i listen to blessthefall and escape the fate as well as Tokio Hotel… so if they are trying to say that TH wont make it far with the emo/punk/metal music lovers they are very very very! wrong… and tehy are not flamboyant thank you very fricken much! as for the hannah montana comment… dont even get me started…

the article is a little funny, sort of.
    well it sucks.
but it’s cool that they got a nice rating. i guess.

  31. akari says:

well that rating commentary was as stupid as the bullcrap hannah montana sings on a daily basis. but what do you expect from a man in a retarded fashion, mikael whatevverr.

they are NOT bubble grunge either! alternative rock/ pop punk’s more like it. which is why they’re better than most bands out there, in alot of ways shapes and forms.

    the end(:

I’m not very pleased with what the reviewer wrote, but at least they gave it a 3.5 out of 4, which will surely help boost their popularity.

I was pleased with the comparison to (old) Guns N Roses music – that’s always a good sign.

  34. Annah Banana says:

& everyone thinks its great to have Tokio Hotel to be in all these magazines!!
You have Rolling Stone & CosmoGirl & Rollling Stone & now this!!

    WOOOO!! go tokio hotel.
But now that tokio hotel is getting bigger like right now in America, that means they will prbobaly sell more tickets for the reschedualed American shows. You know? Ready, Set, Go! is huge on MTV, and everyone knows how huge MTV is…

  35. Annah Banana says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

They are being compared to HM just for thier sucesse…not for how the music sounds.
We all know that Tokio Hotel is bigger than HM but they have to say that they are the same cause its “America”..you know? They dont know whats going on in Europe with Tokio Hotel. They cant even understand German.

They arent comparing none of the music to retarded HM they are just saying they are bigger than her, in words you have to think about. Everything except ” flamboyant ” explains them well =]

But the dude really needs to get it through his head that Tokio Hotel will get BIGGER than HM out here..but he doesnt want to say that i bet, because he doesnt want that to happen.

    Haha loser.

The review is kinda blah, though the rating is nice. Don’t they have the wrong album cover on there, though? It doesn’t have the glow-y blue effect that the US Scream has…Just curious >.>

  40. Yulia says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Ugh… comparing them to HM??! Are you f serious? Not even close. The music is not even in the same genre. That kinda proves that he didn’t listen to the CD. There is no way in the world that TH can be compared to HM. And TH was famous way before HM. Seriously.

But I guess he partially redeems himself when he compares TH to Guns n Roses. (?) Which isn’t that bad.

Another mag that I need to get. =]

hmm..i duno wut hes tryin to show us? is he tellin us to hear them or is he describing them likk everyone else? n he isn’t comparing tokio hotel to hannah montana hes jus comparing their success..so yess i duno this reviews good and bad..its bad cuz we read the same thing bout them everywhere n its good cuz their spreadin the word around..so who knows? all i kno is that parents better get ready to spend money on cds n concert tickets because tokio hotel-madness has begun!

  42. emilyelizabeth says:

haha… thanks for the clarification kaylee – i feel like such a goon for misreading that! what can i say, i get distracted by the excitment of seeing TH gettin rep’d in the american press. and i too could do without the term “bubblegrunge” – it seems like the mark of a reviewer who likes to spend more time thinking up trite little buzzwords than actually listening to the music (ahem, mikael…).

  43. Rebecca says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

Yeah that review doesn’t sound too great, but the rating is awesome. And i agree, i’m just glad that TH has been mentioned in yet another mag

  44. Gina says:

I dont like the review, but hey… it’s getting them out there… (and they DID get a decent rating…)

I’m really happy Tokio Hotel is in all of these american magazines now! It’s cool… Rolling Stone, Blender, now Revolver? Yay.

  45. Jashel says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

i’m not too happy about this article but it’s good enough to spread the word about tokio hotel
“MIKEAL WOOD” should have described Tokio Hotel more thou

for what i know about the deffinition of flamboyant: extremely feminine and annoying

    OH NO HE DID NOT!!!!!

  46. Kaylee Raye says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

actually, i think when they mention “four german kids, between 18 and 20,” they’re referring to the guys themselves. as in, ‘the four of them’. but the wording is kind of weird and really easy to misinterpret. anyway, i can’t really tell if this is a good or bad review, because they’re comparing our bb’s to f***ing Hannah Montana. *gags*

and bubblegrunge? what the hell is THAT? that is an insult right there if i’ve ever heard one. i personally think this isn’t a very fair review since it sounds like the writer, Mr. Mikael Wood, hasn’t even listened to the CD. or maybe he’s kind of biased, i don’t know…but, i’m sure if he actually did listen to it, he’d review it a lot differently. just giving my two-and-a-half cents on this review, because i think it’s pretty biased. but the fact that they gave Scream 3.5/4 stars does help. =]

  47. emilyelizabeth says:

rate this comment Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

not a bad review and, as far as i’m concerned, any american press = awesome… but i find it difficult to accept this as a credible opinion with that GLARING grammar error in the very first sentence (four vs. for – come on…)
