NRJ Interview Translation

Tagged With: , , , ,

By the incomparable zillah – if you take this please credit her and this blog, ne? It was a lot of work what she did

transcript (ONLY of what the boys & the translator say!):

*they are asked how they are and answer that they’re very well in french*
what else can you say in french?

Georg, Bill & Tom: “je ne parle pas tres bien francais” (i don’t speak french very well)

is it everywhere like this in all cities? at first there’s a few people, then there’s many people and now it’s absolutely amazing?

Bill: well, i gotta say it went really, really fast all of the sudden in france. in the beginning it was always a little bit of a struggle and there’s been a couple of people and we went on stage and stuff and we were completely happy with that and all of the sudden it literally exploded and we don’t even know why.

Tom: that’s what i just wanted to say, we were at NRJ already last year and were totally floored and thought it can’t possibly get any bigger than that but anyway, it’s always a surprise to us every time. very good.

to be honest, i didn’t know you at all at first but our audience has been asking me about you all the time and said “guys, guys, play that, play that” and they’ve been sending me parts of youtube files and then we got it and i listened to it and i thought “Schrei, oh god, oh god, that… NEVER! never ever! that’s never gonna pop!–”

Georg: excuse me? *chuckles*

“and then i played it nevertheless and that was the beginning and the whole explosion happened all of the sudden.”

Bill: er, well, we obviously gotta thank our fans for that.

Tom: yeah.

Bill: all you said just know is only due to our fans and we are so totally thankful for that, really, it’s amazing how they stand up for us and it’s amazing what’s going on outside right now. as a band, you can’t possibly have any more support than that. we really don’t get every day and we are so happy and we can’t– i mean, i don’t even know what to say to all of this, we are totally overwhelmed–

Tom: *to the radio guy* –and most of all it’s good to know that YOU didn’t believe in us!

Georg: nice one.

*laughter*
*lady translates*

Bill: hey, but thanks anyway, right? *laughs*

*random sillyness in which the radio-guy tries to tell them IN GERMAN that he’s the “große boss” (big boss). doesn’t work.*

fanquestion: can we get to know each other a bit better?

Bill & Tom: who?

Tom, Georg & Bill: all of us together?!

sure

Tom: oh, right. okay…

Bill: see, Tom, you don’t even– *is interrupted*

Georg: there’s a challenge for you!

fanquestion: aren’t you a bit scared with all of those fangirls in black clothes right before you.. i gotta say it scares me a bit.

Bill: i don’t care at all, i think it’s amazing, well, every time i see what’s going on out there it’s practically dragging me outside and i wanna go to them to write autographs and stuff, well, it’s really fun for me because there’s so much energy coming right towards you and i just want to take this energy with me and latch onto it and we’re so happy–

Tom: especially with those fans, even a massive prole like me is getting the goosebumps and THAT’s something, eh.

Georg: *laughs*

fanquestion: what do you like best about france?

Tom: OH.

Bill: oh, well.

Tom: ohh… tour d’eiffel!

translator: the Eiffel Tower??

everyone: *talks at the same time* yeah, yes!

Tom: and we can’t say it often enough- we’ve never had dinner on top of it yet, yeah?

Bill & Georg: yeah.

Tom: i’d like to have dinner up there once but so far nobody really wanted us to go there, i mean, we’ve heard that there’s a dresscode and stuff and… i don’t really understand why we’re not allowed in there but anyway, erm, we really wanna do that and then of course… what else is there…?

Bill: i just really like the flair and all of those little roads and stuff, you just feel like home here, i mean it’s just so, so familiar and friendly here i think. erm, i’m really comfortable in Paris.

*while the girl translates, the boys are tossing random french words at her… like baquette*

Fredo (that NRJ guy) is gonna invite you to the Eiffel Tower

Tom: that’d be great.

Bill: yeah, i’d like that, too.

*laughter*

is it true that you almost called yourselves “Devilish”?

Tom: *laughs* NOPE! nope, we–

Bill: we WERE called Devilish actually!

Tom: we really used to be called that but i think we definitely would have ditched that name sooner or later, ne, but that has happened actually really late for us, eh? i mean, look at us, we were like 14 or something and we still had that name… “Devilish”… i mean, just imagine that. *is obviously embarrassed/disgusted*

Bill: horrible.

i was in Chicago with one of my mates and there was actually a Tokyo Hotel- no idea what it’s doing there but in case you ever come to Chicago, there’s a Tokyo Hotel for real

Bill: really?? oh wow, that’s–

Tom: that’s totally not good because–

Bill: –i wanna spend the night there!

Tom: –because we can’t have our own Tokio Hotel hotel-chain then!

Bill: right! we really wanted to have our own Tokio Hotel one day so that sucks for us, eh.

*translator tells them that they probably shouldn’t attempt to stay at the Tokyo Hotel because it’s not all that great or something*

fanquestion: i’ve read on a blog that you’re taking french-classes. is that true?

Tom: what do you mean take–

Bill & Tom: we TOOK!

Bill: we had to take french classes for three years and i can’t remember one single word which is why i can totally relate to people disliking foreign languages because i’m just the same. i cannot speak ONE single word and i’ve been playing “schiffe versenken”** all through my french classes so i learned nothing- i cheated all the time.

Tom: but i think we’re getting better and better with each time, you really gotta give us credit for that.

Georg: absolutely.

Bill, you’ve voiced Arthur in “Arthur and the Minimoys” so are you up to starring in movies for real because as far as we know you already played in a movie with Tom when the both of you were 6. “Verrückt nach dir” (crazy for you)?

Bill: yeah, well, err, if it’s possible, i’d like to do, you know, NICE movies because that was a catastrophe but, erm, i could imagine doing that one day, well, if the right screenplay comes along and it’s fun and the role suits me, then i could imagine doing it. maybe there’ll be a Tokio Hotel movie someday or something like that.

Georg: that’d be fun.

Tom: although you gotta say, “Verrückt nach dir” used to be a true money-spinner.

*laughter*

fanquestion: Georg, you almost died laughing when “Verrückt nach dir” was mentioned so tell us about it.
Georg: yeah, well, i think that movie is… amazing…

Tom: have you ever even seen it?!

Georg: i have seen parts of it, well, and you two were amazing actors…

Bill: yeah, we’re like total pros, right?

Georg: everyone really gotta see this.

Tom: i remember that we locked the main actress into the lavatories, even back then, because we didn’t want to play with her. i can’t remember why exactly but we somehow thought she sucked so we locked her in and it took quite a while until that tiny scene was finally finished.

when was the last time you really fought?

Georg: uhhhh…

Bill: Tom and i? or all of us?

all of you

Tom: well, all together, that’s really rare. sometimes Bill gets a good whacking, that’s really usual–

Bill: that hardly ever happens.

Tom: –and then it’s Georg’s turn and then Gustav but all together that’s gonna be tough because that–

Bill: *groans*

Georg: that’s out of your league.

Tom: — that’s definitely out of my league, even for me because all three of them together trying to scratch me, that’s not pretty.

fanquestion: there’s rumors that a third CD is gonna be released in 2008 and i wanted to know whether this is true and if you’re gonna take your time playing it and writing it just like with Zimmer 483.

Bill: yeah, that, well, there hasn’t been planned ANYTHING yet and so far we haven’t gotten an album planned for 2008 because we need some time for us and to spend time writing songs–

Tom: of course we want–

Bill: –so far we’ve been on the road nonstop with no time to spare and of course some songs are being developed as we go along but we don’t have a third album planned yet but i think there’s definitely gonna be one eventually.

Tom: i wouldn’t exactly rule out 2008 in that context but we got nothing planned so far.

Georg: exactly.

personal question: what do you think about Rammstein? after all, they’re a little bit like your big brother if you can put it like this.

everyone: *overwhelmed by the big brother comment* moah.. yeah… well…

Georg: well, i think they’re awesome!

Bill: yeah, they’re really awesome! they got an amazing live-show, i really like what they’re doing.

Tom: but now that we’re 18 we can have a drinking-duel with them! i heard they really hold their liquor well!
(note: oh Tom, that one is gonna come back and bite you in the ass one day! i just KNOW it! Till is gonna destroy you so hard you won’t be able to smell vodka for years! )

Bill & Georg: yeah!

Tom: let’s give it a try one day.

little interview on the topic “all grown-up”. now that you’re 18, can you finally go to stip-clubs without people asking you for your ID?

Bill: YEAAAAHH!!

*laughter*

Bill: and most of all, what i think is SO awesome is, it’s always been this huge headline every time Tom and i went partying and now we can finally say OF COURSE we’ve been partying hard and we’ve been in clubs and we’re gonna go out A LOT in the future–

Tom: *laughs*

Bill: –and we’re gonna have fun for real and before, it’s always been this huge problem and everyone got their panties in a twist over it even though every teenager parties and well, we’re finally 18 now and i’m really happy about it. the press finally’s can’t write about it anymore.

now that you’re 18, can you openly get drunk without having to hide the booze in soda bottles?

Bill: sure.

Tom: yeah!

Georg: i gotta say, it’s not like they did that before anyway…

Tom: right.

Bill: that’s why it used to be this big topic and everyone kept talking about it. but hopefully it’s over now.

what is it you got in your glasses over here right now? just coke or whiskey?

Georg: both! *laughs*

Bill: well, that’s just coke now.

now that you’re 18, does that also mean that you got your bank accounts all to yourselves and your parents haven’t gotten any access to it and can’t steal your money anymore?

Bill: *sputters* OH. MY. GOD! they didn’t do that before! it’s always been our money… even though it’s not all that much anyway.

Georg: yeaaaah…

what was the most amazing or funniest present you got for your 18th?

Bill: errrr…

Tom: that’s hard to say, i mean the thing is, we only have opened like half of it yet because it really was so unbelievably much that we couldn’t even open all of it yet!

Bill: erm, otherwise, what have we… i mean what i personally thought was really nice was we got lots of really personal presents and what i thought was really hot is Tom and i we got this statue that is this an abstract piece of art and it’s two bodies that you can push together and then they become one and that’s sort of be a symbol for the two of us and i thought that was pretty cool.

Bill: and the fans have been sending us so much cool stuff- we got giant canvases with portraits and so on and they put so much effort in it. it’s really unbelievable what was delivered for us.

how many of your fans’ panties do you have at home?

Georg: plenty.

Tom: plenty!

Bill: plenty to make both all of our moms and gradmothers happy with them.

*laughter*

what are you doing with all of that stuff? g-strings for you grandmothers??

Georg: OF COURSE!

Bill: my grandmother maybe not but my grand-grand mother for sure!!

Tom: right, i was gonna say that.

fanquestion: during your tour through france, are you gonna get some fans on stage like you did in germany?

Bill: it depends on the concert, really, it’s different every time because we don’t want to do the same thing every evening.

Tom: the important thing is being called BEHIND the stage AFTER the concert!

*they start to play “It’s raining Men”*

Bill: TURN IT OFF!!

*laughter*

Bill: i was 13 for crying out loud!! that was an eternity ago!

it’s not exactly rocking, isn’t it?

Georg: why, i think it’s pretty good.. for Bill.

Bill: i gotta say, i really gotta defend myself now, it really wasn’t my choice at all. it wasn’t my choice how to look like and i didn’t get to pick my song and i felt really, really uncomfortable and it totally wasn’t what i wanted to do and i was really glad that i could go my own way with the boys in the end because it was really just a stupid bet i lost against Tom and yeah. that’s one of those dark abysses of me being 13.

fanquestion: in the name of the portugese fans: are you going to play a concert in portugal because we’re waiting for you

Bill: me, i… i can just say we’re definitely gonna come to portugal… it’s really a hard time for us now because we gotta decide to which countries we gotta go and when i look at our scedule, i don’t even know when i’m supposed to sleep and yeah, it’s really horribly packed and we’re trying to majke as much as possible happen and we’re definitely gonna come to portugal to come and see our fans. we don’t know when but we’ll be there.

just before this show you were at Canal+ and there was supposed to be this announcement you were supposed to say on air.. did we miss something or what happened?

Georg: i rather think we missed out on something.

Tom: yeah, we missed something.

Bill: so we sat at that show and everyone was like “do the announcement” and we were like “huh?” and looking at each other and going “yeah, yeah, probably” and we didn’t know ourselves what they meant. i think we didn’t quite get it.

Tom: anyway, later on we asked around because there’s supposed to be all of those rumors going on on the internet about us but the bottom line is: don’t believe anything because we obviously got nothing to say. *laughs*

Bill, you’re taking especially good care of your voice and are eating special candy for it–

Tom: *snickers*

–what about smoking? are you planning on quitting smoking because smoking is bad for the voice?

Bill: WHAT? what do you mean “quitting smoking”, i’m not smoking! none of us is!

Tom: the bad thing is, everyone on our team is smoking.

so the bad thing is that you’re finishing off the cigarette butts, right.

Georg: yeah, sure. wait, no!

Tom & Bill: what? no!

Bill: whos cigarette butts?

the teams!

Bill: no!

Georg: i though you meant we gotta breathe their smoky air or something.

Tom: yeaaaaah…

fanquestion: are you gonna play the tour in german or are there gonna be any news and other songs but the german ones?

Bill: er, well, we don’t wanna give away too much already.. i can only say let us surprise you but of course we got our albums packed up with us so that’s for sure.

what do you think about fans who transform themselves into copies of you? you see pictures of those in the internet and you get the feeling that it’s really you standing there. how do you feel about that? there even was a guy who had an operation to look like you.

Tom: oh really.

Bill: well, i mean… every band is dreaming of something like that, right? i can still remember when i was sitting in that little cow-village and dreaming of standing on a huge stage in front of many people i always said that i want a whole lot of Bills and Georgs and Toms and whatever standing in front of me and that feeling is amazing. in the end, everyone’s gotta realize for themselves what they want and we don’t want to force anything on anyone but it used to be really cool for us in the beginning.

Tom: as long as there’s no Georgs because those are only gonna get laughed at.

Bill: yeah, that’s true.

*laughter*

looks like you’re also gonna be in Milano during your tour?

Georg: eeeexactly. **

Tom: EEEEXACTLY!!

thanks to all of you and have you got one last message to the fans?

Bill: what, do they hear me outside?!

*fangirls scream*

Bill: ah, yeah, i can hear it. ah, well, thanks so much and… i didn’t know that they were listening all this time… what’s going on today is so amazing and we were totally overwhelmed and we’re so happy that you stayed up for so long, er, just to see us.

Tom: that’s really unbelieveable, we are so fucking happy.

Bill: and thanks of course to everyone who’s in the studio right now and yeah. see ya!
