Rock One Interview – Part 1

April 30, 2007

30.04.2007
Rock One Interview
Tokio Hotel gave an exclusive interview to French music magazine Rock One recently. We’ll be bringing you highlights over the next few weeks – here’s part one for starters…

Rock One: You stayed in Cannes recently. What was that like?

BK: It was amazing. We stayed in a magnificent hotel with sea view, we held interviews on a sunny terrace near a big pool under palm trees. Believe me, coming from northern Germany, this really means something!
TK: We also realised that we’ve been getting more and more French fans. There were loads of screaming people who’d been waiting for us for hours.
BK: The only annoying thing was that I had to leave the others there and go back to Germany for an important event.

Rock One: The video for your single ‘Ready, Set, Go’ is really interesting. What was the shoot like?

BK: It was a very demanding shoot, because to work for 28 hours non-stop!
TK: We worked with 60 extras, and to make the footage dark like the lyrics, we created this futuristic city. All the extras played clones, with shaven heads, dressed in army clothes.
BK: We wanted to give the impression that the clones freed themselves through our song, because that’s the theme of the track: getting people to believe in themselves, to follow their own ideas and opinions, even if they are contradictory to mainstream opinion. Sometimes have to free yourself and live your own dreams, like we have been since the beginning of Tokio Hotel.

Tom Kaulitz – 20 Questions

April 25, 2007

starting this week, the german magazine Yam is publishing a “20 Questions survey” they asked the members of Tokio Hotel.. the series starts with Tom. :)

translation via Zillah at the forum

1) I’d never leave the house without… my mobile-phone.

2) You’d cut your dreadlocks for how much money exactly? Money doesn’t matter- I’d only cut them if I wanted to.

3) What animal would you compare yourself with? And why? No idea. But I’d like to be a dog in my next life.

4) What was the first thing you bought with your Tokio-Hotel-Money? A Gibson guitar…

5) Are you a shower or hot-tub kind of person? I’d rather take a hot bath. My showers usually last hat least half an hour.

6) What are you afraid of? Nothing, really – possibly sharks.

7) How many times have you had to change your mobile-phone number so far? My whole life? Maybe three or four times.

8) Have you, like every other guy, ever watched porn in secret? Why in secret?

9) What’s your favorite drink? Peach-flavored iced-tea.

10) Have you ever had a fight with Bill over a girl? If yes, why? We’ve really never fought over a girl. Everything was quite clear in that matter…

11) I’d love to kiss… Angelina Jolie.

12) What do you spend the most money on? Probably vacations and instruments.

13) On my 18th birthday… I’ll be celebrating a really neat, huge party together with Bill. Before, I’d like to drive around a bit… I totally want to have my driver’s license til then!

14) How many caps do you own? In the meantime I do own quite a few – approximately 70!

15) What part of the female body is the sexiest to you? I’ll try to paraphrase it: the “eyes” :-)

16) Sometimes Bill is going on my nerves… with his constant singing.

17) What girl would you like to get stuck in an elevator with and what would you do with her? Well, I gotta choose Angelina Jolie again. I think everybody has a good idea of what I’d like to do with her then…

18) The first concert you’ve been to? Can’t remember exactly but it was some Festival for sure.

19) What’s your favorite color? Blue.

20) What’s your shoe-size? 42 1/2.

Tokio Hotel: Cultural learnings of Germany for make benefit of German language

Going into Iraq was a bad idea. The Phantom Menace was terrible. And Germans are good at penalties.

All huge understatements – but none as big as saying that Tokio Hotel are famous in Germany. The band has more air time than Jordan and has won more prizes than most of us own socks. And now they are starting to make waves abroad.

The quartet, consisting of the twins Bill (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schäfer (drums) burst onto the German music scene with their debut single “Durch den Monsun” in August 2005, which shot straight to no.1. The album “Schrei” that followed debuted at no.1 and thereby underlined their status as the new German music stars.

Now they are taking France by storm and the German-learning institutions are reporting a knock-on effect. More students are signing up to learn German and hoards of eager young learners want to know what the texts mean. So, the Goethe-Insitut in Paris has reacted and equipped their teachers with Tokio Hotel texts.

With the hype spreading worldwide, we thought it was high time our readers caught up on what all the fuss is about and so here’s a vid so you can see for yourself. Comments are welcome ;-)

Tokio Hotel talks about…

April 22, 2007

each other.

(someone emailed this to me, if this is your translation, let me know and I will credit)

About Bill
* Georg: Bill is simply ugly! No, just kidding. He’s unbelievably unbidden, and lovable person. But just after 4 PM! Bill is a real sleepy-head, you shouldn’t disturb him before noon. But I think all of us like this.
* Gustav: At the beginning he didn’t help us carrying our instruments. He always said, he was the singer, and his instrument is the microphone, so he only content to “carry” that one. But of course, when there’s sg huge problem he always helps. But I think he had to make huge efforts.
*Tom: I can only repeat the others. And I can only say good things or nothing about my brother.

About Tom
* Georg: He’s a very impatient person. He’s quite nervous, and if sg didn’t good at first, he needle himself. This time it’s quite hard to him to calm down, but we are there to help him.
* Gustav: Tom has incredibly awsome ideas! He’s always the first who suggest sg, and I love this thing in him.
* Bill: When he is happy or nervous he’s screaming! I have no idea how can a human being make such a high voice like he has.

About Gustav
* Bill: He’s the only early-waker in the group. I think he’s a typical drummer. He’s a square-shooter really frank. His energy is unfailing- but he’s quite calm. Great combination!
* Tom: I think he’s quite capricious! If we have him on a string, he immediately gets angry. That time is better for everybody to avoid meeting with him.
* Georg: Sometimes he’s really hot-tempered, but an amicable boy. I admire that a lot.

About Georg
* Bill: There was a time when Georg was writing a secret log. But it’s not a secret anymore, cause we found it, and we read it.
* Gustav: Once he said what he’s doing, and we explered the book. It wasn’t really nice from us.
* Tom: I read he was in love with one of my exes, but nothing happened between them. Since then we are laughing about the whole thing. BTW Georg is quite lazy, slob and wanton. At night he’s energetic, and he has lot of plans, but in the mornings it doens’t matter what he said at night.
